Education fulfills its promise when knowledge expands our ability to act, contribute and live with dignity.
At the @UniLag International Week in Lagos, I called for teaching that brings academic rigor together with practical discovery, and university systems that recognize innovation in student assessment, faculty promotion and research funding.
As technology reshapes economies and work, universities must connect talent and research to real-world needs, enterprise and jobs. Through @UNDPNigeria’s partnership with @UniLag and the UniPod Network, we are supporting this transformation, advancing Nigeria’s knowledge-based economy and Africa’s role in shaping the global knowledge economy.
I commend @NigeriaGov and Hon. @DrTunjiAlausa for advancing Nigeria’s education renewal agenda, and @followlasg, under H.E. @jidesanwoolu’s leadership, for its commitment to innovation in Lagos.
Thank you to my sister @UnilagVC for convening this important conversation.
Today, I celebrate our Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Chief Wole Olanipekun, OFR, CFR, SAN, on 50 remarkable years at the Nigerian Bar. Thank you for your steadfast leadership and service to the University of Lagos.
Congratulations, Sir.

The situation has been swiftly resolved. The students have been well taken care of, and are now on their way back home.
As we await their safe return, on behalf of the @UnilagVC, we appreciate everyone who brought this to our attention.

last year, @UnilagNigeria issued a press release on this:

Thank you @DrJoeAbah for reaching out to us on this matter.
Kindly DM the WhatsApp number so we can update law enforcement agencies accordingly.
We have already notified @LinkedIn headquarters about this and published several disclaimers and cautionary statements….
I received a LinkedIn connection request from Prof. Folasade Ogunsola @UnilagVC in March. I accepted and we connected. She then sent me her WhatsApp number for ease of communication and we have been chatting and exchanging pleasantries since then.
Two days ago, the number started to send me what were clearly 419 fraud messages. I have reached out to her on LinkedIn and by text message to ask if her WhatsApp has been hacked but there has been no response. It just struck me that the person with the WhatsApp number may have created the LinkedIn profile for fraud purposes.
Anyone who knows Prof Ogunsola should please alert her to this. I am reluctant to share the WhatsApp number here in case it is her real number and it’s just her WhatsApp that has been hacked. Thank you.
