I am hyped to levels you do not understand
We have a huge pivot underway here at Epic, moving developers around to retool for maximum AI acceleration. The aim isn't to do the same stuff with fewer people, but to enable everyone here to build MORE and BETTER stuff, and to bring the benefits to all teams using Unreal.

If you don’t realize it AI is currently breaking some of the toughest social boundaries right now. It’s currently storming the beaches of the streaming world. It’s pushing inland and it’s going to optimize your face off whether you like it or not 🤣 Godspeed 🫡

Every day I wake up and talk to people who have never seen AI at it's best. They don't understand what is coming, that we are at the knee of the Singularity. They still think AI's hallucinate, create crappy multi-fingered art, and are worthless. They don't code, never tried an AI coding agent. When you work with current coding tools, you start to see AI differently. Esp if you have a programming background. If the last time you tried an AI coding tool was 8 months ago, you are already 2-3 step changes behind in what it's capable of now. You probably think it's still broken can't be used to make anything of substance. And you'd be wrong. The vast majority of people are even more wrong, because they tried AI a few times 3 years ago and it was crap. They can't see the steepness of the curve. And what has completely displaced coding is coming for so many areas. But it's not a replacement for humans, it means that you have to move your mission to one step above, to a designer, a creator, a director. Great things are possible.

People are losing their minds over the Zach Bussey rumor that Twitch/Amazon might start using streams to train generative AI (with possible opt-out for some of it). This reaction only makes sense if you fundamentally don’t understand what the internet is. Your stream is public. Anyone with a half-decent internet connection and free tools (streamlink, yt-dlp, a $5 VPS, or a browser extension) can already record the entire thing, chat logs included, in real time or from the VOD. They’ve been doing it for years. Clip farms, archival bots, research scrapers, commercial data collectors, and random people with hard drives full of VODs have been vacuuming this content up long before any Amazon AI team got involved. The only new part of this rumor is that the platform itself might formally do what third parties have been doing unofficially the entire time. That’s not some unprecedented betrayal of privacy. It’s the platform catching up to the reality of how public data actually works. If you put something on a free, open, globally accessible live stream for thousands (or even dozens) of strangers to watch, you already consented to it existing outside your control. Expecting it to stay magically locked away from every possible use is pure delusion. Opt-out is better than nothing. Compensation would be better. But acting shocked that public content might get used by the company hosting it? That’s not principled. That’s just not understanding the medium. The internet doesn’t do “private but also fully public and free.” It never has.

A lot of people are already jumping on the “Twitch/Amazon training AI on streams = bad” train. I get the instinct. But can we be honest for a second? The current recommendation algorithms have been dogshit for years. They constantly serve content people don’t actually like or engage with. If this AI training is done right, it could finally build recommendation systems that actually understand what you enjoy watching instead of just pushing whatever is trending or paid for. On the creator side this could be huge too. Twitch already does auto-clips. Imagine the next step: your entire stream gets intelligently sliced, highlighted, and served to the exact audiences who will care, without you having to sit there clipping, titling, and uploading everything yourself. Less busywork, more actual streaming. Apparently creators will get some form of opt-out. If they structure the incentives properly, this doesn’t have to be the dystopia a lot of people are painting. Curious what other creators think.

Every time I post a game I made, I get all kinds of rude comments from gamers, game devs, streamers, etc about how bad this is. "Why don't you do something else." "Who's gonna play this?" "It's all wrong" You guys completely miss the point. I didn't make this to sell it to anyone. I am not doing this to get players. Notice how I didnt post a steam link? I'm doing this to show people who are actually interested in learning just how capable these models really are. I built this in a day. I did this to push the edge of what is possible using today's models. And this is on the edge. Not my first rodeo. Its funny to hear people who've never played it how the physics arent right. I have 3500 hours in Rocket League lol. The physics are so close to the original that I can barely tell the difference. It's actually crazy. And the reason for that is because the model went out and did its homework, and then tested it, adversarially reviewed itself, fixed itself, compared to the original, and kept working until it was a very close match. Opus is truly cracked at this. Obsessive. Thorough. This model really impressed me. I am doing this to show people that they can truly build anything. This empowers creators. This empowers CREATIVES. If you would get off your high horse for a moment and realize how this actually helps people. This is a beautiful technology that allows you to turn your words into your dreams. If you can articulate it well enough, you can have that thing. But wanna cry and nitpick because the real game is better. lol The real game has 100s of millions of dollars and many dozens of devs who worked on it. I did this in my mom's basement on a sunday night. Stop complaining. Embrace the gift that is in front of you, and LEVERAGE It go make yourself more productive, powerful, and educated. I will finish the polish on this and silence the haters though. Anyway, if you could share the original post, that would be great :) I want more people to see how insane Opus 5 is. There's a billion dollar franchise out there waiting to be built, and the models are ready for it T O D A Y. Go build it.
THE WAY YOU LOOK AT AI GAME DEVELOPMENT WILL CHANGE AFTER YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO "The AI Slop is Coming for Games." That's right. Introducing... Slopet League Everything you see here was built by Opus 5 and GPT 5.6 Sol in _____🤫. This is not an html page, it is a functional game with a fair bit of polish working inside a real game engine. This has to be some kind of trick. NO. It downloaded a map. NO. Imported assets. Only the Octane meshes, I have other cars that were generated that look just as good. The balls, the map, the effects, the physics, animations, etc were all generated from scratch by Opus 5. GPT 5.6 Sol handled the car meshes. This is only the beginning. I made this in about a day and a half, and most of that time I was waiting on Opus to finish generation. Maybe 25 prompts. I will share my process, and many photos, proofs, evidence of this as we go. This is just a taste, I'm extremely busy this week and working on real life stuff so I'm not going to put any more time into this until next week, but believe me I'm gonna polish this into something beautiful. If you're interested, please share, bookmark, follow, and comment below. I want the world to see just how powerful the language models are TODAY. It's only going to get better from here. Buckle up folks. Oh, and What a save!
