Multiple lawyers, including renowned @joelbakan, confirm that the Bradford plan to commercialize water in Toronto very much opens the door to privatization: thestar.com/news/gta/city-ha…. Shrill denials from Bradford and his billionaire backers are a clear tell. #toronto #canlab

"yep, that's me, you're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation..." As tempting as Gong's case was, I opted to vote for Oliva Chow (Mayoral Candidate #9) at the advance polls. I encourage everyone to do the same today. 😅👍🏾 #TOpoli

Congratulations, President @LulaOficial, on your re-election in Brazil. The relationship between Canada and Brazil has flourished under our partnership. Let’s seize this opportunity to make it even stronger, together — to create major new trade opportunities, protect the environment, and build greater prosperity for both our peoples.

Don't ever let them tell you young people don't vote. When the younger generation is actually given a reason, they can topple a despot.

Our advice: read what privatization experts have to say in the well researched, meticulous & fair-minded explainer by @TorontoStar @mahdishabibinia thestar.com/gift-redeem?t=e9… & not the tiny thoughts of a Ford/Bradford mouthpiece. Then vote @oliviachow tomorrow to #keepwaterpublic
LIES. LIES. LIES. Scaring people about their drinking water is beyond the pale. But not surprising, eh? The story says an agent "could be a private company, a public-private partnership like Metrolinx or the Canada Infrastructure Bank." Metrolinx is a Crown agency under section 3 of the Metrolinx Act. It’s 100% owned by the Province of Ontario. The Canada Infrastructure Bank’s shares are issued to a federal minister and held on behalf of the Crown under section 25 of the Canada Infrastructure Bank Act. It’s 100% owned by the Government of Canada. Neither has a single private shareholder. They aren’t public-private partnerships. They’re public bodies. The professor reached for the 2 best examples of wholly public ownership in the country to argue the law permits private ownership. And "agent of the Crown" isn’t a label a company can give itself. It’s a legal status conferred by statute. The only way a private investor ever holds a share in one of these corporations is if a legislature passes a new law saying so. That’s the opposite of a door left open.

Wow. Just wow. Lula wins in Brazil. This is a victory for decency and the rule of law. He beat all the polls. My friends are celebrating in Sao Paolo tonight!
⭕️ President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has overtaken Flávio Bolsonaro in Brazil's runoff count. With 59.77% of polling stations reporting, Lula has 50.52% of valid votes to Bolsonaro's 49.48%, a lead of about 766,000 votes, according to Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Stations vary in size, so that share is not the same as the share of votes counted.

Bradford's struggle has been that the more voters get to know him, the more they dislike him.

Honestly, I didn't know Bradford voted against the Church Street pedestrianization. That's probably the biggest impact thing the city has done for me since I've moved here. Chow all the way I guess 👏👏👏

The Globe and Mail on Brad Bradford...
"Bradford‘s campaign of darkness reflects poorly on the city and on him. The fact is that Toronto is a vibrant place. The streets are filled with a rich mix of humanity, of people who want to be here and who are ready to look out for their neighbours" theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…

this headline/post is an incredibly irresponsible way to frame your own reporting @TorontoStar “McNally had told a difficult account of how she had given birth to a child at age 15 and had to put the baby up for adoption ... [but] acknowledged she had actually been 17 when she gave birth.” “Ethically, it was always to protect the identity of my daughter” do better
