The Group had already categorically clarified that it has no proposed or ongoing project in or around Bhimashankar. What Torrent Power Has Now Clarified 1. The 3,000 MW pumped-storage project is being developed by Torrent Power in Karjat, Raigad district, Maharashtra. 2. The project is approximately 16 km from Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. All project components are outside the sanctuary and its Eco-Sensitive Zone. 3. No project-related work is proposed near the sacred Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga temple. 4. The project underwent approximately 18 months of statutory procedures, including environmental studies, public hearings, expert appraisal, site inspections and regulatory clearances. 5. The project involves approximately 233 hectares of forest land, with wildlife conservation, habitat management and compensatory afforestation measures included in the project plans. 6. Torrent plans to plant approximately 60,000 trees across project areas and another 30,000 trees on compensatory afforestation land. 7. The company has identified 253 hectares of compensatory afforestation land, which it says already contains approximately 70,000 trees. 8. According to Torrent's projections, the project could supply around 6,570 million units of electricity annually, enough to meet the evening electricity requirements of approximately 55 lakh homes. 9. Torrent estimates that the project could avoid burning approximately 43.3 lakh tonnes of coal annually and prevent around 58.5 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year compared with coal-based generation. The Bhimashankar issue is about Torrent Power's project. Adani has ZERO involvement. No amount of political sensationalism can change the name recorded in official government documents.
