Thousands of Google clicks without a single blog post? 🤖 Sure! This is what programmatic SEO is for. Take a vast array of data and generate hundreds, thousands, or maybe even millions of pages with that content. It too starts with keyword research as there's no way around it if you want to befriend Mr Google. But this time you're searching for long-tail keywords where there's a replaceable part. "Cost of living in XYZ" "Translate X from Y to Z" "Example sentences with the word XYZ" "Cheap flights from X to Y" Take these queries individually and they do not seem like a big deal. 3k searches a month. Humble, right? In fact, 3k searches per query are quite significant. At @MateTranslate, we target "example sentences with {word}" -- these queries individually yield <500 searches a month. But we're getting 2,000 unique visitors from these queries. It's even surprising to see what query performs well if you have a big database where you do not know every entry by heart. Build pages On-page SEO principles I described in the previous post apply here too -- they always apply, in fact. * Query you're targeting in
* More secondary keywords in
,
, and sprinkled around the page * A+ and
, mentioning the keywords lavishly * Fast loading time Is programmatic SEO that idyllic? Yes and no. I really admire this approach as I'm a big fan of "do it once, harvest forever" approach to building. But you first gotta nail it really well to harvest forever. First, if your site is new and domain rating is rather low (<30), Google is not going to take time and effort to index millions of your meticulously-crafted pages. What to do? Spoon-feed the most important pages (a dozen) via sitemap.xml. Let Google know where to start. Google appreciates good internal linking on your site. Use breadcrumbs (index → category → page links at the top of the page). Also, add it as JSON-LD (it's not scary) to your page to make it easier for Google to understand your nested structure: https://developers[.]google[.]com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/breadcrumb If you want to quickly poke at a competitor and see if they're doing programmatic SEO, you can easily check by googling "site:sitename[.]com." Second, you surely need data to pull it off. But there's a myriad of things people are searching for on Google. Here's an example that requires zero data -- only resourcefulness. stagetimer[.]io made dozens of pages with pre-defined timers to target "N sec timer" queries. Have fun picking, scraping, pruning, combing up, building, & watching your charts go up!

Makers will literally choose between hundreds of food brands, dozens of clothing brands, a few phone and banking providers, then see someone build an online business and say "ah I guess this is taken, time to find something else!".
