Three years after Hamas’ horrific attack, we mourn the 1200 lives lost and 250 hostages taken and keep their families in our thoughts and prayers. This conflict has taken a devastating toll on the region, and I will continue to advocate for long-term peace.

The same people who say Palestinians shouldn't all be judged for Hamas's crimes on October 7th argue that Jews around the world are fair game if they don't publicly disavow Israel.
You're not against collective punishment if you support it when the victims are Jews.

"Violence dancing people is never acceptable, and it's no 'freedom fight' to kill ravers."
The F*ckparade is an annual political techno music demonstration in Berlin. When online commenters tried to attack them for not embracing the pro-Hamas Free Palestine movement, the parade struck back with a clear statement against Hamas's horrific October 7th attack.
Standing with Israelis and Palestinians does NOT mean excusing Hamas's crimes.
Finally, some moral clarity.

I have practised M&A and corporate law for more than seven years, so I want to explain why Mark Ruffalo’s comments about the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger bother me beyond the obvious politics.
Paramount Skydance has agreed to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery in an approximately US$110 billion enterprise-value transaction. The consideration is cash. The financing package involves tens of billions of dollars of equity and debt. The transaction has cleared merger-control review in multiple jurisdictions and is now being challenged by a coalition of U.S. states on antitrust grounds.
There are completely legitimate reasons to debate a deal of this scale: market concentration, competition, pricing power, editorial independence, potential job losses, the leverage being incurred, and the concentration of voting control after closing.
Mark Ruffalo instead told his millions of followers: “This is the company that Larry Ellison is using to fund his son David’s Warner Bros. acquisition.” He was referring to Oracle.
He then claimed Oracle’s “really profoundly scary technologies” would “most likely be merged into one of the largest media conglomerates in the world and one day used on you,” before linking the entire transaction to what he describes as Israel’s “genocide” and “apartheid system.”
But Oracle is not being merged into Paramount. Oracle is a separate publicly traded corporation. The acquisition is being financed through a combination of debt and new equity financing, including a substantial cash investment by the Ellison family trust. That trust holds significant Oracle stock, which forms part of the assets supporting its funding commitment. But Oracle itself is not a party to the merger, its shares are not part of the consideration paid to WBD shareholders, and its technology, contracts and operations are not being transferred to Paramount.
Paramount does maintain commercial arrangements with Oracle, including cloud and software agreements. Those related-party relationships are disclosed in Paramount’s SEC filings. A supplier relationship is not the same thing as Oracle being folded into the media company.
This is where the rhetoric becomes troubling. Ruffalo’s story is essentially this: a Jewish billionaire and his son are accumulating enormous control over the media; their wealth is connected to Israel; a prominent Jewish-Israeli executive at a company in their orbit possesses frightening technology that supports Israel; and somehow that technology and power will migrate into the media conglomerate and may eventually be “used on you.”
That construction has an extremely old pedigree: Jewish money, Jewish control of media, secret or frightening technological power, Israel, and a warning that the machinery will eventually be turned against the audience.
Importantly, Ruffalo did not need any of this to oppose the transaction. He could have discussed competition, jobs, or whether one family should hold this much voting power over a major media conglomerate. Paramount’s own filings state that following closing, the Ellison family and RedBird will remain the sole holders of its voting shares. That is a perfectly legitimate concentration-of-control issue.
Ruffalo responded that criticizing Netanyahu, Israel, or a military technology contract is not antisemitic. Of course it isn’t. But that is also not the criticism being examined here.
Antisemitism has never required someone to announce “I dislike Jews.” Generally, it operates through stories about what Jews supposedly do: control institutions, manipulate governments, dominate finance or media, operate through hidden networks, and deploy extraordinary power against everyone else.
As an M&A lawyer, there are dozens of serious questions one can ask about a US$110 billion merger. “The Jewish founder’s other company supports Israel, therefore its scary technology is going to become part of this media empire and could eventually be used against you” is not one of them.

It took less than 48 hours for Jews to be attacked in NYC after Mayor Mamdani's remarks on arresting Netanyahu, an empty campaign promise.
Why is it that when we warn about attacks, people say we are "playing victim", but as soon as we are victims, they simply ignore us?

A violent extremist stabbed a Jewish New Yorker and an Asian New Yorker while shouting “Allahu Akbar.”
The attacks serve as a bloody reminder that we are living in an age of heightened hatred and antisemitism, with hate crimes against the Jewish community reaching levels rarely seen before.
Instead of combating antisemitism, American politics has become increasingly consumed by an unrelenting campaign of demonization directed at the Jewish people and the Jewish state.
Enough is enough.

Imagine a member of the Israeli government - or any foreign government - arriving in the United States and attempting to enter a closed military zone.
You would expect them to be stopped, questioned, and turned back.
That is exactly what happened to Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna in Israel.
He arrived with a camera, a political agenda, and a press release practically written in advance.
@RoKhanna knew he would be denied entry. That was the point.
This was not a fact-finding mission. It was political theater designed to manufacture a confrontation and blame Israel for it.

For those who haven't been following -- and nobody's been following because nobody cares, least of all the journalists' NGOs -- Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been steadily releasing death notifications for one "journalist" after another, listing them invariably as fighters and commanders in the organizations' ranks.
It's dozens now. Maybe more.
But the "Israel targets journalists" meme is forever. The facts will never penetrate the thick fog of ideological confirmation bias that has overtaken the NGO and activism world and its journalistic arms in the mainstream media.
Literally no one cares about whether journalists were actually hunted down by Israel, as it was depicted by @pressfreedom and others, or whether Hamas used fake "journalist" claims to protect combatant commanders, counting on a global NGO and media ecosystem it knew was looking to confirm its biases.
No one will examine these falsehoods or report on them in a visible way because no one cares about the wellbeing of the real journalists, who are desperately endangered when combatant commanders are labeled "journalists" -- and even the world's major journalist advocacy groups decide to play along.

Darializa Avila Chevalier, a candidate for Congress in New York City 🇺🇸, has defended her participation in a pro-Hamas rally that took place on October 8, 2023, only one day after Hamas’ massacre.
Let’s be clear: any rally on October 8 was not pro-Palestine; it was pro-Hamas and their brutal actions against women, children, and innocent civilians. Darializa is defending participating in that.
The Nonprofit Security Grant Program is one of the most important tools for protecting the Jewish community and other vulnerable communities from violence and threats. We appreciate the House proposal to provide $315 million for NSGP, but demand continues to far exceed available funding, and the need for it has never been greater. As ADL's @_DanGranot put it: “Congress should fund NSGP at no less than $1 billion, reflecting the urgent needs of vulnerable communities across the country.”
Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee proposed providing $315 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program in 2027, an increase from 2026 but far below the $1 billion that supporters of the program have called for.
