STONKS
Looking at what did well (and what did not so well) at Worlds, @ViperTCG_ explores what lessons can be learned from the event, going into Baltimore!

ALT On the left half sits text reading, "Winners & Losers of Worlds" in front of (left to right) a green stocks arrow trending up, card images of Dusknoir SFA and Alakazam MEG, grayed out card images of Dipplin TWM and Dhelmise PLB, and a red stocks arrow trending down. On the right is an image of the author, Freya Pearce, in a tan blazer mimicking the "stonks" meme. In the background is a slightly blurred image of stock prices, again similar to the "stonks" meme.

DEFINE A WOMAN.
That question is often used as a gotcha, but human biology and human identity are more complicated than a two-word answer.
A woman is an adult person whose gender identity is femaleβa gender category historically associated with the female sex.
Most women are cisgender. Most have XX chromosomes and typical female reproductive anatomy. But most is not the same thing as all.
- Not every woman has a uterus.
- Not every woman can give birth.
- Not every woman menstruates.
And chromosomes, hormones, reproductive anatomy, and gender identity do not line up exactly the same way in every human being.
I think about it like motherhood.
Acknowledging an adoptive mother doesnβt erase a biological mother.
And I love Cindy Noirβs analogy of womanhood being like a neighborhood: the houses donβt all look exactly alike, but they can still belong to the same neighborhood.
Recognizing transgender women does not require pretending biological sex isnβt real.
-We can understand biological sex.
We can understand gender.
We can understand that they are related but not identical.
And we can still treat people with dignity.
Your doctor may need to know your reproductive anatomy.
The woman standing beside you in Target does not.
You donβt have to understand someoneβs entire life experience before deciding they deserve respect.

this graph is so fucking funny to me like how is trans people being violent shooters a stereotype
If youβre a trans woman, youβre not allowed to be:
- sexual (or else itβs just a fetish)
- visible (or else youβre shoving it down everyoneβs throat)
- vocal (or else youβre annoying)
- masculine (or else youβre not trying)
- feminine (or else itβs womanface)

Here we go.
Iβd like to first give a big thank you to our producers, Katie, Jake, Daniel, and Lenox for the opportunity to be a part of the Worlds team this year. To even think about the fact my name was said amongst these talented people is very crazy to think about.
This team carries so much prestige behind it, Pooka truly is the godfather of the competitive Trading Card Game. Pabloβs decades of expertise is invaluable. Chip is the main voice of the players. Rossβs enthusiasm for our game is infectious. Amy always drives to learn new roles and lift the broadcast in any way she can. Joeβs dedication to always expanding his knowledge and holding me accountable to staying on top of my game as my partner and as a someone who wants me to succeed. And most importantly in these moments, I have to thank my cocaster Ethan.
Our first pairings were at the two largest tournaments of the entire year, heβs on these tournaments all the time because he truly is one of the best as a play by play caster. His professionalism and his devotion to commentary is nothing short of inspiring. With the some of the most awkward matchups thrown at us across both NAIC and Worlds, he held our pairing together. I couldnβt have asked for a better partner through the biggest events I have done so far. And I truly thank him for his patience while I continue to get my footing in this game.
With Kyle on the production line instead of the desk, I had massive shoes to fill that honestly still feels very far away. He loves this game and wants it to be presented in the best way it can. Our team is better with him on it as someone with the legacy he has whether he is on the desk or supporting it behind the scenes.
These events for someone like me are never guaranteed. I canβt say Iβm a lock in for every season from now on, but for the moment that I am here, I truly am grateful for the experience that the past 3 months have given me. Thereβs not much time before the new season begins, so I canβt stay complacent for too long, but for the first time in this crazy career I finally feel like Iβm worth something. In other games I used to cast, Iβm not a first or a second or even sometimes a third choice, so to be chosen for something as important as this is the most gratifying experience Iβve ever had. It reinforces that sometimes the journey doesnβt reward you for a long time, but when it does, you can be proud of what it took to get there.
Thank you to all of you as well, this may be small to others, but this has been the most important time of my entire life. I appreciate always the support, the smiles and laughs, and the good times we all share together.
See you next season back on the tables, and the desk β€οΈ
Let the record state unequivocally I am beyond hype for Worlds in Singapore. Itβs somewhere Iβve always wanted to go and now I have the perfect excuse <3
