Picture your commute with 11% of Vancouver’s road space gone. That’s 220 kilometres of roads and sidewalks.
It’s hard to believe, but it’s on page 10 of the Green platform, and Pete Fry is running on it. He also wants a 30 km/h speed limit on major arterials.
In a city that already struggles with gridlock, that means more time stuck in traffic for commuters, delivery drivers, tradespeople and families.
Mayor Ken Sim has a different plan: fix our roads and sidewalks, coordinate construction better, and get traffic moving again.
If you drive, bike, bus or run a business in this city, how our streets work affects your day.
Election Day is October 17.
Vote for Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team, and vote YES on both plebiscite questions.
Let’s keep building the change our city needs, not rip up our roads.

Not only is it on page 10 of the Green platform, it's also already-passed bylaw in Vancouver which you would know if you spent any time there. #vanpoli

Remember the Granville pedestrian zone that everyone loved? Ken Sim is determined to make sure nothing like that ever happens again. Road space must NEVER be taken from cars!
It was another great debate at the Vancouver Sun with Stu McNish.
Could you imagine losing 11% of Vancouver's road space? That's 220 kilometres of roads and sidewalks! Hard to believe but that is what Pete Fry says he’s going to do.
He even wants you to drive 30 km/h hour on all major arterials.
Imagine what that would mean for traffic in a city already struggling with gridlock?
As Mayor Ken Sim made clear during the debate, his approach is different: investing in roads and sidewalks, streamlining construction, and focusing on getting traffic moving.
These are important choices about how Vancouver's streets will work for residents, businesses, and families.
On October 17th, Vancouverites will choose their next mayor and council. If you drive at all around our city. This choice matters.

Iona Bonamis 陶思穎 wants you to be able to get around town quickly and safely without a car. We can achieve that with faster buses, active transport corridors, and housing choice citywide.

Just a reminder. Under Ken Sim and ABC’s City Hall there have been ZERO permanent School Streets. When ABC says public safety matters they are lying to you. #vanpoli

Personally if I had been Mayor during a horrific vehicular attack on a pedestrian festival, I would not be campaigning on the promise that we are going to kill more pedestrians with cars.

This is absolutely disqualifying. Both illegal and incredibly dangerous. Distracted driving is the #2 cause of death behind the wheel. @Vote4ABC cannot call themselves the "party of public safety" unless they call this out.
Section 214.2 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act: a person must not use an electronic device while driving. ABC campaigns on public safety, yet their candidates keep filming behind the wheel. Rules for you, not for me. @VancouverPD

I'd like to apologize to the @VancouverPD for my previous tweets after seeing this video.
I now understand the need for enforcement at this intersection because - wait a minute those aren't bikes

Warning, have first-hand reports that @VancouverPD are ticketing cyclists westbound at 1st & Crowe. There's a VPD parking lot on the right and a cop hit a cyclist there recently.
Approx 0% of cars stop at this stop sign but they specifically said they're only targeting cyclists

Attending council meeting while driving? That's a red card ⚽️🟥
(Also highly dangerous, not to mention illegal.)

Do we have your attention? We're partnering with the Vancouver Canadians on a charity game. Come out and support the C's on July 28, and $5 from every ticket sold through our link supports our group! (Yes they have veggie dogs!)

If you're wondering why we don't have more nice spaces like these, it's because Peter and @Vote4ABC repeatedly water down or cancel any attempts to pedestrianize popular streets in Vancouver. Despite the rhetoric, they repeatedly vote for cars on our streets instead of people.
VisionZeroVancouver retweeted
So this is a lie. ABC is refusing to listen to the data about traffic fatalities because they think it will help them get re-elected.
Yesterday, ABC voted to keep Vancouver moving.
While the non-ABC parties on Council wanted to lower speed limits on major arterial roads to 30 km/h and 40 km/h, ABC chose to stand with commuters and residents.
Speed limits must be driven by common sense, not ideology. Let's keep Vancouver moving forward.

On Tuesday June 2, council will vote on the new Vision Zero Safe Mobility Plan. This plan is GREAT. But we don't know if it will pass and we need your help! Please take a minute to email council & sign up to speak if you're able:

Thanks to groups like @WeAreHub and @VisionZeroYVR for their important advocacy in keeping our streets safe. We need to do better. I will bring back intersection safety cameras to council and advocate for more AAA cycle infrastructure
We need to broaden the conversation on public safety in this city.

any update from your fact-finding when this happened last year? I'd hate to blame the obvious road design problems and lack of enforcement without having the facts! You seem very passionate so surely you have something by now.
