When people tell you there is no more space to build new housing - here is Paris overlaid on San Francisco.
SF is slightly larger, despite having 808,000 people compared to 2.3m in Paris.
If you think San Francisco is only 4-5 years behind NYC culturally then you are a philistine idiot. San Francisco is decades behind NYC and anyone with an iota of taste in their body knows this. NYC clears SF in food, night life, music, arts, fashion, urbanism, walkability, intellectual spaces, and exposed brick walls. If you have observed how people in the two cities even just dress and carry themselves you know it's a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation. NYC has comedy clubs, theater, and intellectual life spanning EVERYTHING, not just AI and tech. In New York I can go see a play, get dinner in a dimly lit restaurant, and then get drinks with my friends for like $500. You can't do that in SF. In NYC I can go to a party in Brooklyn and meet amazing experimental visual artists who really don't like getting asked if their parents pay for their nice 1 bedrooms. Yesterday I went bar hopping during the day to catch all the Big 10 football games which is becoming a huge cultural mainstay in Manhattan. Yeah, we're culturally and intellectually superior to San Francisco tech nerds. Do I even need to mention the subway?
Las Vegas @Raiders currently managing to somehow disappoint Niners fans with this poor on field display against the Rams.
See you after the bye.
Makes sense that the driver would flee the scene, however, given the state of driving with impunity here in SF, they probably would've gotten off with a good finger waving followed by a 'please don't do that again!' had they stayed on the scene!
The person who drove their car into the Muni Metro tunnel on Saturday, shutting down service, had abandoned the car inside the tunnel, SFPD said.
The dept. is investigating the incident as a hit and run, it said.
Service resumed Sunday morning.

A common boogeyman trope in Westsider political literature is that approving mid-rise housing (6–8 stories) on commercial corridors like Taraval, Noriega, or Judah will set a precedent that quickly spreads into the residential side streets and onto the shoreline.

So the driver did damage to the trackway with their vehicle.
UPDATE 2: Market St. #SubwaySvc between Van Ness and Embarcadero will remain down for the remainder of the night for trackway inspection & repairs.

Wow. It's even worse than I thought. No subway service through downtown on a Saturday night and potentially into Sunday depending on the extent of the damage...
Driver gets off easy. Probably not even a point on their record.

Aside from paying for the vehicle towing, does the driver pay any fines for delaying thousands of passengers?
ATTN: Market St. #SubwaySvc is delayed in both directions due to an automobile that entered the trackway via The Embarcadero. Bus shuttles are being arranged to provide svc btwn Market/Castro OR Church/Duboce and Caltrain in both directions.

Drop the 'Las', just 'Campesinas.' It's cleaner.

I've actually seen enough. It's gonna be a loooong season for us @warriors fans.
Was a fan of the initial donut proposal with 200+ units but this more conventional building type will do!

IDK why this is so funny to me 😂😂😂
Replying to @HNLTransitFan
Why is public transit your identity you people are such weirdos, I don’t want buses or poor people in my neighborhood.
Me, a Bay Area Denizen:
"Congrats!"
"Happy for you!"
"Must be nice!"
While I wait to see if we decide to fund our regional transit systems come November.
This is the SECOND major transit project to break ground in Los Angeles this week.
First: the East San Fernando Valley light-rail line.
Now: the 12.4-mile Vermont Avenue BRT
• 12.4 miles of BRT
• Dedicated bus lanes
• Connections to the B, D, E and C Lines
• Trips up to 24% faster
• Upgraded service for 38,000 daily riders
@metrolosangeles hopes to finish the Vermont Corridor before the 2028 Olympics.
No American city is doing more for transit that Los Angeles
This is the type of mailer I wouldn't mind getting!
Very cool to see where ideologies, and internal politics amidst these outlets and orgs. play out.
And holy moly, horseshoe 🧲 theory on Prop. G.
Good job Bay Guardian Republicans!
When asked why the project didn’t face the same level of opposition, Roberto Hernandez, a longtime Mission District organizer, said that the answer was simple:
“The developer is a nice guy, and he worked with us”
