The FFD’s 2nd Annual Lead with Fire summer camp wrapped up yesterday and was an incredible experience for 15 teens! Held June 2–4 in partnership with @WCSedu CCTE, the camp provided hands-on training and a behind-the-scenes look at the fire service. From pulling hose lines to suiting up in full gear, these future first responders got a true taste of what it takes to serve. A huge thank you to Firefighter David Konstant for coordinating the camp, and to Captain-Paramedic Dustin Anderson and Firefighters Tyler Barnes, Andrew Bowden, Josh Cole, and Matt Thomas for their outstanding support. We’re also grateful to the Franklin Fire Explorers for assisting throughout the camp and being great role models for participants. And finally, thank you to WCS CCTE Director Dr. Jeremy Qualls and Assistant Director Kris Schneider for their continued partnership and support. Check out these exciting photos captured at camp!

Last night, the FFD, in partnership with Williamson County Schools College, Career & Technical Education, hosted Signing Day at Station 2—celebrating young people selected for two groundbreaking public safety programs: FFD Internship Academy – Launching in June, this 19-week Recruit Academy is designed for recent high school graduates. Interns will train alongside firefighters, gain hands-on experience, and earn certifications that pave the way to fire service careers. WCS Fire Management Program – A new year-long course for rising high school seniors starting in 2025–26, offering a deep dive into careers in fire protection and public safety. Just like a sports signing, participants signed commitment letters, marking the official start of their journey into the fire service. We were honored to have several community leaders speak, including: • Fire Chief Glenn Johnson • @CityOfFranklin Administrator Eric Stuckey • HR Director Kevin Townsel, JD, and FSSD Board Member • WCS Director of CCTE Jeremy Qualls • WCS Assistant Director of CCTE Kris Schneider • Firefighter David Konstant, Internship Academy Coordinator We’re proud to invest in our future and support the next generation of first responders!
