VIPR is now out in @ScienceMagazine! What started with a mysterious RNA led us to an unexpected way of recognizing DNA, as well as some clues to CRISPR’s origins. So happy to share these two papers with an incredible team. Links below; original discovery thread here ↓
Excited to share our discovery of a new programmable RNA-guided DNA-targeting system hiding inside bacteriophages that predates CRISPR. We call it VIPR (Viral Interference Programmable Repeat), and it uses an entirely new logic to find its targets. Thread + link below.

I am so excited to share our new paper in @Nature: the first programmable, site-specific integration of a large DNA payload into T cells in vivo. A single IV injection results in therapeutic levels of TRAC-targeted CAR T cells in multiple models. nature.com/articles/s41586-0… a 🧵

How do nanoparticles enter the tumour? In our latest study @NatureNano, we found tumour endothelial cells bring NPs in mostly using macropinocytosis & interestingly, macropinocytosis membrane ruffling is elevated in tumour vs healthy vessels 🧐@TheChanLab nature.com/articles/s41565-0…

🚨🚨New Paper🚨🚨 Ever wonder where EPR came from?👀 Matt et al. describe the history and evidence for the EPR effect and its impact on cancer nanomedicine. They also discuss a new theory termed the Active Transport and Retention (ATR) principle.🌶️🌶️🌶️ nature.com/articles/s44222-0…

🚨🚨🚨New paper🚨🚨🚨 @Matt___Nguyen et al. found that NPs exit solid tumours through the lymphatics in a size dependent mechanism, and proposed a new mechanism of NP delivery to tumours called the Active Transport and Retention (ATR) principle 🥵🌶️ tinyurl.com/4p7ymkjn

🔥🚨@zacplin and @WayneNgo1 here to post Chan Lab's first paper of 2023🔥🚨 We found that nanoparticles can pick up platelet factor 4 when they pass through injury sites. This enables nanoparticle binding to endothelial cells 🔎 (1) pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…

I don't understand why this needs to be stated, but "You don't even have a PhD yet" is *NOT* an appropriate statement for anyone, especially professors, to make to PhD students to show "superiority"
