A frenetic day in Mali, the outcome of which remains undecided. The objective of the second large-scale JNIM-FLA offensive appears to be the capture of Anefis, a strategic town on the main route to l locations such as Kidal, Tessalit, and Aguelhok in the far north 🧵
Following the launch of this latest offensive, it is possible that fresh efforts are made to cause greater disruptions to movement in and out of the capital and increase pressure on the government.

🇬🇳🚨| The malian government officially announce and confirms the death of the defence minister Sadio CAMARA following a VBIED attack on his residency killing some other innocent.
Per my own sources, at least one of his kid was also killed, alongside with his wife.
Sadio Camara is reportedly dead, Russian forces are leaving Kidal as part of a negotiated agreement, and Goita is nowhere to be seen.
After hours of abnormal radio silence, JNIM has finally claimed today’s attacks. Tellingly, JNIM has labelled the FLA “its partners” that it coordinated with “to bring about real transformation”
Putting aside the gravity of today’s events in Mali, the impact of which remains unclear, we have seen the very worst of social media discourse.
I am as stunned by the military’s failures as I am by the level of coordination and execution displayed by JNIM and the FLA.
