It is exceptional to see @haileyldavies meta-analysis of how sounds influence aquatic invertebrates published in @GlobalChangeBio
Special thanks to those who made this research possible @KieranCx @kamurchy_23 @NSERC_CRSNG @LiberEroFellows @DFO_Pacific @UVicScience @SFU_Science
My first dissertation paper came out in @GlobalChangeBio this week! Marine and Freshwater Sounds Impact Invertebrate Behavior and Physiology: A Meta-Analysis 🦀🦑🐚

Water we talking about?
Aquatic insects are ecological indicators for freshwater environments. But we haven't known enough about their sounds to learn from them.
Our expert @docslinky has been working with an international team to change this.

🎉My 100th scientific paper came out today, but what makes it even better is that it's one of my crazier ones.
Led by #ecoacoustics guru Camille @Desjonq, we estimated how many➡️described⬅️underwater insects make noises and what it means for ecological assessment!

This is a really exciting project, one that we hope to contribute to in the future! Freshwater habitats are at substantial risk, despite almost the entire global population relying on them. The right datasets could unlock the monitoring capabilities to help us protect them.
