Trade: The #Colts are trading 3-time Pro-Bowl DT DeForest Buckner back to the #49ers, the team that made him a 2016 first-round pick before dealing him to Indianapolis in 2020, per me and @AdamSchefter. A reunion!!
Now Buckner returns to SF, fortifying their defensive line.

I know after Davante Adams’ injury the Rams shot up the board as the favorite and most sensible team to trade for BTJ, but after watching today’s Week 7 games I think there are some strong cases for other teams:
• Chiefs: KC’s offense looked flat without a field stretcher like Thornton that allows Mahomes to throw deep and really use the play action to their advantage. (Longest pass tonight was a 26 yard incompletion)
• Giants: JJ “Piss Missile” McCarthy looked great today and the deep threat combo of Mooney/Hyatt has shown it’s not substantial. Adding a cheaply acquired BTJ would be an incredible upgrade for JJ to go along with Nabers, Likely & Fields.
• 49ers: They have an elite QB in Purdy who deserves established superstars, or at least something close to that. The rag-a-muffin platoon can work but only for so long. If it’s Super Bowl or Bust in Santa Clara, then adding BTJ should be a must.
