I have been nominated to post a picture every day of 10 stainless steel flange plates which mean something to me. No reviews, no explanations, just stainless steel flange plates. #1 – the RS Pro Thermocouple Stainless Steel Flange Plate.

If you do not isolate, this could happen to you: trapped in an iron lung, unable to escape serial piano-botherer Liberace.

Went to panic buy toilet paper but instead I panic bought four litres of ketchup, a box of waffles, twenty-four cans of fancy fizzy pop and some gummy snakes.

It's a less informed and more dangerous world when a scientist doesn't understand the tools of their own trade. (Worse if they're not even scientists, but have a pulpit and the same tools.) forbes.com/sites/kalevleetar… #DataScience #analytics #BigData #IOPsych

Yes, yes, it's my 156th birthday. I'm not one to make a fuss over such things, of course. But if you insist on doing something for me, let's get those few remaining #IOPsych volk out there to follow your Uncle Hugo. Retweet this message or give some Luddite colleague a nudge!

A comprehensive evaluation of the utility of AI/game-based selection methods. (h/t @drtcp & @FredOswald)
More #gamification guff. 'Fun' scenario-based personality assessment isn't new. Track down the 'Insanely Driven' piece that @drtcp helped to develop for @RBanima about a billion years ago. (Okay, circa 2012 I think)

Besides, whenever you see 'exciting' and 'new' in the same sentence as 'personality test', the chance of both of those adjectives both being true is p<0.01. Also, read the technical manuals, not the marketing materials.

Oh, and while I'm on my high horse... BPS, I thought that we were calling it personality 'assessment', not 'testing'? Maybe I missed a memo.

Just in case you need it this morning, here's the picture of Liberace playing piano for a lady in an iron lung.
...and that's about it. Job done. Few days of recovery and the occasional codeine. @petegallacher mentioned my knee might feel like wet tissue for a little while. You can also add 'might sound like a wet fart.' (Don't turn on the sound if you're squeamish.)

Had spot of knee surgery yesterday, carried out by the excellent @petegallacher. For anyone else who might be getting similar surgery, I made this handy guide.

Crikey @HiltonHotels Bournemouth: I hope when you have to do an evacuation for a real fire that your staff are better prepared. You need to be faster, better organised and make sure you know which guests need assistance (I don't, but others do and didn't get it).

Seems Mary Shelley is buried here in Bournemouth. They should dig her up and reanimate her. If my understanding of Frankenstein is correct, that's *exactly* what she would have wanted.
