I have used botanical kratom for over 8 years.
I read extensively from peer reviewed studies and value-neutral harm reduction literature before the first serving, and knew within about 30 seconds that dependency was possible, if not probable, with long term routine use of botanical kratom at the serving size I would require and planned for.
[If anything, the general search engine results between outdated consumer health portals and for-profit rehabs gaming SEO results, are far more pessimistic than what actual studies tend to suggest.]
I judged that it was a reasonable drawback for the benefits of routine use for debilitating pain, especially already being dependent on the Rx pain medication (2011-2018) that was stopped against my will.
I have used it in consistent amounts (2018-now) below my personal limit.
I still believe it was a good decision. Nothing is appropriate for all people, but it has been for me.
I also know that I was able to reduce to zero for a procedure within 30 days with no issue in excess of baseline pain. I without regret or reservation restarted it a week later post-procedure to continue manage chronic pain.
I wish others would take personal responsibility for their decision to put it, or anything else, into their body especially if done out of curiosity or a whim at the checkout counter with no self education; and not judge what other (especially well informed) folks like me have done deliberately for important health purposes to great success.

Dr. Au, DEA’s own October 14 notice explicitly cites reports of trace amounts of mitragynine pseudoindoxyl in botanical kratom products as a reason for proposing a threshold instead of treating every detectable amount alike.
That distinction belongs in your explanation to the public. Trace presence in a botanical product does not, by itself, establish deliberate manufacture or enrichment.
I support targeting deliberately manufactured, concentrated opioid products. But a physician and legislator discussing this issue should acknowledge the very distinction DEA cited in explaining its revised approach. The primary source is publicly available. There is no excuse for leaving that context out.
At this point, it would be in your best interest to quit commenting. You are clearly not competent to hold these conversations.

MGPI levels in botanical kratom are extreme trace, if that. So low they are below the LOQ for most instruments (including DEA), and so low where it may be non-zero there is legitimate scientific debate that they are forming during the mass-spec process.
The proposed standard of less than 1mg/g or 1mg/mL for 7-OH and MGPI with a 100:1 ratio to mitragynine is less than the current standard as DOJ intends to enforce it.
The “Feel Free” product wouldn’t be able to have even 0.4mg per bottle at 40mg mitragynine because of the ratio limit. They’d know before it came off the line if it was violative which is what they and consumers deserve.
The manufacturers wanted some quantified limit rather than vague assurances from DOJ about “enforcement discretion” for that extreme trace, and discretion that wouldn’t bind the states that automatically import the federal schedules into state law.

Your Support Is Critical!
The threat to natural kratom isn't going away. Even as the DOJ and DEA take steps to address synthetic and chemically manipulated 7-OH products, new efforts in Congress threaten to undermine the progress we've made toward protecting access to natural botanical kratom.
The AKA is working tirelessly to ensure that lawmakers hear the facts, understand the science, and recognize the millions of Americans who depend on responsible access to natural kratom. But responding to misinformation, educating congressional offices, mobilizing advocates, and defending consumer access across the country requires significant resources.
We've accomplished so much together over the past decade, but we cannot afford to lose ground now.
If natural kratom matters to you, please consider making a donation today. Whether it's $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can afford, your contribution helps sustain the AKA's advocacy and education efforts at this critical time.

It is SICK, DISGUSTING, and EVIL to deny a person with SEVERE pain from a DOCUMENTED condition, and to refuse them a therapeutic dose of proper, appropriate, clinically indicated opioid pain medications!

This applies to every single medically abused and abandoned Complex Pain Patient - we don't have 'Medical PTSD' because it's not "Post", it's present, ongoing, and life-endangering. We've been conditioned into an Iatrogenic Stress or Anxiety Disorder that we can't begin to heal from because our health care system continues to be increasingly unsafe on a daily basis.
How can we trust a system that offers us euthanasia rather than prescribe an opioid? What insanity is this?
Will we ever be safe?

This is a BLATANT LIE. This guy is absolutely out of his mind!
One of the most ridiculous "false narrative" #kratom spins I've ever seen.
Apparently, kratom is now a gateway drug to fentanyl.
Seriously, wtf!? Written by one of the most dangerous faces to the kratom community. Dean Francis, founder of End Kratom Addiction. His son developed an 8-year addiction to leaf and 7-OH. Dean deflects and blames everyone for his son's addiction but his own son (not that his son should be blamed for an addiction). His posts are so over-the-top but he's been gaining a lot of support and momentum on LinkedIn. #IAmKratom #KratomSavesLives #KeepKratomLegal

Georgia is REALLY starting to concern me. You all need to pay attention to this one! 👀
On October 23, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr called for a new law that would make ALL kratom-related products presumptively ILLEGAL for retail sale unless the state specifically approves them.
Yes, you read that correctly. ALL kratom-related products. 🙄
And here's what REALLY gets me.
Georgia ALREADY has a Kratom Consumer Protection Act!
✅ Age restrictions of 21+
✅ Product labeling requirements
✅ Limits on certain alkaloid concentrations
✅ Restrictions on synthetic products
So instead of focusing on enforcing the regulations already in place, we're discussing making every kratom product illegal by default unless the government gives its blessing?
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE! 🤦♀️
And what about the responsible small businesses already investing in independent laboratory testing, honest labeling, and consumer safety?
What happens to them?
And here's another question…
If the goal is consumer safety, why does prohibition keep coming up before meaningful enforcement of existing laws?
Georgia's proposal has NOT become law. But this is exactly the kind of development we need to be watching heading into 2027.
I'm all for protecting consumers. I'm all for holding bad actors accountable.
But I will NEVER understand why responsible consumers and businesses should be punished for the actions of irresponsible sellers.
Georgia, I'm watching. 👀🌿

💚🌿 When I speak about kratom, I'm not just speaking as someone who consumes it. I'm speaking as someone who has poured over a decade of my life into building a small family business around it.
I've spent years working alongside Dan, building MitraSpec, putting in the long hours, and navigating an industry that's constantly under attack.
This isn't just another political issue to me. IT'S PERSONAL.
I'm a natural kratom consumer, a small business owner, and someone who has seen firsthand how these decisions affect real people.
I support independent testing, transparency, age restrictions, and accountability.
BUT I WILL NEVER SUPPORT BLANKET BANS THAT PUNISH RESPONSIBLE CONSUMERS AND THREATEN SMALL FAMILY BUSINESSES! 🙄
When lawmakers discuss banning kratom, they're not just talking about products on a shelf.
They're talking about people's livelihoods, years of hard work, and businesses that families have sacrificed to build.
I'M NOT JUST FIGHTING FOR ACCESS TO A PLANT. I'M FIGHTING FOR SOMETHING WE'VE SPENT YEARS BUILDING.
And that's why I won't stop speaking up.

THE NORTH DAKOTA FILE: 50 CLAIMS. 0 PROVEN NATURAL LEAF.
How does a state try to justify banning a natural botanical?
By citing 50 "kratom-associated" deaths. But when you actually open the North Dakota DHHS records, the math tells a terrifying story of government overreach.
Here is what the state's own data shows:
❌ 26 of those 50 deaths were excluded from causation—the compounds were just in the toxicology.
❌ Of the 24 remaining "causal" cases, 83% involved other drugs like fentanyl, meth, cocaine, alcohol, or suicide.
❌ That left 2 cases—but the state admits its private lab didn't even test for concentrated synthetic 7-OH until September 2025.
The state produced zero evidence that a single death was caused by natural kratom leaf rather than a synthetic extract or concentrate.
Don't let panic write the law. See the data funnel for yourself.

💔💔💔
Imagine what it’s like being extremely terrified to be thrown in prison only because you wanted to control severe pain long enough so that you could have any quality of life?
This is how kratom consumers in banned States feel. We have Americans in full TERROR that they may be forced to live life behind bars for using a leaf. How ridiculous is that?!
Now imagine that this terrible government overreach is heading to your State, promoted by the media and misinformed politicians.
This is inflicting high levels of psychological trauma en masse because millions of people use kratom leaf to manage pain from life-changing diseases and traumatic injuries.
Its as simple as this: Losing access to kratom leaf means that they lose access to a decent quality of life.
And the news is silent about that fact while they go on with their anti-opioid propaganda.
