The Vulpine (YA)
Enter a darkly dystopian world full of eerie folklore, in which illness and difference have been prohibited. But from deep beneath the earth, a rebellion is rising...

My early review of The Vulpine by @WriterPolly is live.
It's got everything really - it's magical, dystopian, fantastical, there's some romance, light comedy, and action.

Polly Crosby was interviewed about THE VULPINE in The Bookseller! It’s a really insightful piece where Polly talks about society’s reaction to people with disabilities/chronic conditions and how that inspired the dystopian world in her YA novel. @WriterPolly

Honouring the heritage of fairytales, this feminist YA novel shows how one brave girl can bring down a misogynistic patriarchy when she takes control of the (actual) narrative. @WriterPolly’s engrossing novels portrays girls and boys as allies and equals - as it should be.

Lucky to get an early read of this - I loved #TheLostPassenger by @franquinn , a story of love, bravery and friendship set against the backdrop of the Titanic. Fran is definitely one of the most entertaining historical fiction writers around. Highly recommend. Out Feb 2025.

All those people who accuse authors of being jealous of celebrity authors - sometimes yes, but would you like to hear someone paid a ton of money to do what you do talk about it like this?
@hughbon talking on @BBCRadio2 this morning about how he, like many others, is "contractually obliged" to write a children's book, so he's "giving it a bash". How nice it must be to put minimal effort into something guaranteed to be a success. 1/

Frankfurt is a weird time for writers; it can feel like everyone is getting 6 figure deals (they’re not!). To do something for those who aren’t yet at that stage, I’m offering a free critique of your first 10k words & synopsis (fiction only) - to enter RT by midnight Sat! 📚✍️

Libraries & librarians: we have to change the shortsighted view that they are ‘just’ ‘part of the arts & culture budget [vital in itself]. They are ‘about social care’ & enrichment, personal & community growth, protection & safety too.
