UK will use up its fair share of global carbon budget in just 5 years, if consumption emissions included
That’s the reality
That’s the inconvenient truth
That’s why we urgently need new Climate & Ecology Act, in line with the science

“Our ambition is to be a net zero bank by 2050” @Barclays
Wake up Barclays - 2050 is much too late. We’ll be consistently at +1.5C by 2030.

The action drew attention to the Treasury’s funding of new fossil fuel projects abroad in direct contravention of the globally agreed mission to keep global temperature rises below 1.5C.

There's so much disinformation about offshore wind. The biggest threat to whales & our oceans is climate change caused by burning coal oil & gas. Plus offshore oil + gas has risks re seismic testing, drilling, oil spills. Offshore wind, if done right, is part of the solution.

🚨 BREAKING: Norwegian oil giant @Equinor just announced £6.6 billion in profits for the past 3 months.
Thanks to generous tax breaks, UK taxpayers will now effectively cover 91% of the costs for Equinor to develop the Rosebank oil field.
That's around a £3bn tax break for Equinor.
EVs - definitely part of the answer.

Uh, this is really something else. Look at these latitudinal averages over the last three months...
[Plot shows zonal-mean surface air temperature anomalies (1951-1980 baseline), where latitude = x-axis (not scaled by distance). Data from GISTEMPv4]

ALT Bar graph showing zonal mean surface air temperature anomalies for July, August, and September 2023 from -90°S to 90°N. Red bars are shown for warm anomalies, and blue bars are shown for cold anomalies. However, all bars are above average in this month. The Arctic, Antarctic, and Equator regions are denoted on the graph.
