Both of these guys blocked me a few years ago because I said Figma is antiquated for UI work and that if you want a future as a designer, you need to start designing in code. Change is challenging, but it's never worth ignoring.

Yes. Doodling a picture of a website in figma is no better than doodling a picture of a website with crayons. Actually, crayons are better than figma because they’re at least fun. Real designers code.

If I have risk of missing the flight, I will be pushing through the line regardless of what everyone thinks or says. Even if 100 people will be pointing and screaming at me, I’ll still push through Learned this the hard way. I had two flights scheduled: from Taiwan to Hong Kong, and then from Hong Kong to Moscow If I missed the first flight, I would also miss the second flight, meaning that I would have wasted $1000 on tickets, and I would also not have a hotel I arrived 2:30 hours before departure (which I believe is above the norm), but the queue was extremely long. I tried to pass and I had probably like 10 old Asian men and women “discipline” me. I unfortunately listened to them and stayed within the line And then the check-in closed. I was unable to board (at first). These Asians had tickets (and I asked them) to flights they were NOT going to miss, and they, instead of having empathy of passing me through, decided to make a childish scandal as if I stole their lunch I believe you do have priority over everyone else in the line if you have risk to miss a flight that is about to leave. Unless they’re in the same situation as you, you shouldn’t care about making them angry. What’s better: wasting money on the flight and committing yourself to a day of inconvenience, or making some random people angry who aren’t going to miss their flight anyway You should have enough bravado to pass through screaming and angry passengers (unless they’re also at risk of missing their flight) In the end, I bribed some reception lady to pass me through. No way of me losing a $1000 on tickets just because of some queue To those who think I should have arrived earlier - I arrived early and I was in the queue from the beginning. It seems in Taiwan they had one airline with one desk which took much more time to pass than anywhere I have been to (aside from Phuket)
pray for me that i make it line is 2h and my flight is in 1h 30min

Hiding a fire extinguisher is a hilariously bad idea. And someone thinking it’s a great design perfectly encapsulates the mindset of most Apple cultists when it comes to anything Apple does
Replying to @Lstruere
The Apple Store on 5th Ave is filled with incredible details. This perfect little door keeps the fire extinguisher hidden.

This has been a really good collaboration between backend programming and frontend design/UX Rather than the complicated and expensive path of having a frontend js framework consuming a backend API we have just one PHP app, one developer, and Youssef providing the design built with HTML/CSS exported from Webflow
I just redesigned @HostiFi's web app with @Webflow Almost nobody uses Webflow to design apps, but it's actually a very powerful way to get designers thinking like engineers and engineers thinking like designers. You design everything in code, so the constraints you're working with are real. When a developer wants to implement your designs, they can simply inspect the elements and pull out any value they need.

Claude is a better coder than me. But I’m still a better designer than Claude. It will throw together a UI and I can optimize it in ways that make sense to a human but have not been materially documented, not found in training data. We humans still have purpose. For now.

The market has spoken. Figma $FIG is a shitcoin. Stock is down again. 85% down since IPO last year. What a scam for retail investors.

Incredible! Posted a shot of my pricing page and @YS recorded a ~7-minute video tearing it down. SO much to steal. If you're building a software product, you need to watch this.

Nothing is more valuable for a designer than receiving an absolutely brutal, honest and constructive teardown of your work; and to learn its not a personal attack but a lesson in learning to see your work from another angle.
just going hater mode today. 99% of people have never gotten real critique in their lives. have you ever had someone tear apart an essay you wrote? or a piece of art you lost sleep over for a month? too many soft creatives. you grow when your work gets a close reading. you do not get that from twitter demo hype.

I have never once met a client that uses "client-first". Webflow is already way too complicated for most clients to use, let alone expecting them to understand combo-classes. On top of all that: Components, slots, variants, are their own kind of code that the client have to learn too. All this is harder and less empowering than just learning html/CSS, because at least html/CSS is standardised, makes sense, doesn't change overnight and never breaks.

Without totally redesigning it (which is a temptation amongst designers), here is how I'd improve this interface.

Israeli interrogators used psychological and physical torture to break Faris' spirit, using doctored photos to convince him that they raped and killed his mother and sisters. Then, they suspended him in the air for a full week. Read our full report: dci-palestine.org/_the_priso…

Huge landing page mistake I see a lot: → Too much copy. Your landing page is like a sales call. Sometimes you need to talk less. This is a good constraint because it forces you to focus on what matters most to the buyer.
