I’m not sure anyone’s nailed it better than this among the subset of teams that tweaks their uniforms every three years. They look classic and iconic and yet fresh and modern.

On Oct. 14, 1978, the Gophers beat Iowa to become active holders of the Pig, the Axe, and the Jug. Two weeks later, they lost to Michigan and haven’t held all three at once since. They can end that streak in three weeks at home against the Hawkeyes. Wild.
