Tomorrow I am in beautiful Las Cruces to visit with the talented @Teri_J_Orr lab & give a seminar at @nmsu Biology at 4 pm (Foster Hall 365). Come if you are interested in host-virus arms races or in learning about the @fredhutch postbac scholar program (fredhutch.org/postbac).
Fun fact on Zach's lunchtime mind: LL Cool J's "Mamma Said Knock You Out" is 102 bpm, which means it's great for timing CPR.
Yesterday I found out about ... Marvin Klegman, hero 11 year old from Tacoma who gave his life saving another student during the 1949 earthquake. No mention at all @HistoryLink? The kid has a statue and Marvin Klegman Day in Tacoma.

Kitsap County folks - training season for Washington Explorer Search & Rescue - Kitsap Unit is fast approaching. Come out to the woods, learn a bunch of cool stuff, and help your community while doing it - kitsapesar.com/join/apply/ My only training regret is I didn't do it sooner.
From Kitsap County DEM, a little advice for runners shared via RRCA:
"Never trust a driver: Drivers are distracted and you are not their first priority. Don't assume they will give you the right of way at a crosswalk."
Too true, @KitsapEM, too true.
11 years at Nintendo and I never traveled to Kyoto. I was just asked for any "don't miss" sites and I've got nothing. Any recommendations for a colleague?
Happy "Talk Like James Mason Day". For those of you who need a refresher, I've arranged a class taught by Professor James Mason: youtube.com/watch?v=VWxx6lQ0…
Class act from the Mariners' Church in Detroit. They added a tolling of the bell for the man who wrote "the church bell chimed 'til it rang 29 times". Rest easy, Gord. youtube.com/watch?v=PIq1ELxH…
I have no idea how I saw this before the internet, but my memories of it are as old as my memories of Star Wars. May the Farce be with you, all.

No joke, my friends. Speaking from some experience here.

Bremerton folks: the Community Farmer's Market is in some trouble. Keep an eye out for public meeting notices and speak up if the Market is important to you. I fully plan on bringing my kid to the Market for years to come, so let's keep it going. bremertoncommunityfarmersmar…
