Spoke to a major US sports investment broker back in March over coffee. Not an interview. I asked what he tells US investors wanting in to English football.
"Sure. But you won't make any money."

Tomorrow morning’s diary. At this rate I’ll have done 115 interviews by the end of next week.
I don’t ask for a payment, it’s not right to benefit. Instead ask for a donation to @samaritans who do brilliant work listening to people in distress. Suicide is still the biggest killer of men under 50 and women under 40 in the UK.
Desperately sad news. Thoughts with Ben's family and friends.
It is with deep shock and sadness we announce that Chester FC Director Ben Duggan has passed away.
Ben was a co-opt to the City Fans United Board over the summer and died suddenly last weekend.
At the age of 33, Ben was our youngest Director and brought a new and refreshing dynamic to the Boardroom.
He had taken on the Fan Engagement and Membership portfolio, and in that short time had produced a strategy that promised to improve many areas of the club.
In his memory, the players and staff will be wearing black armbands during Saturday’s fixture against Worksop Town.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Ben’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

Big loss. Mike's been a fantastic asset to the Blues. – at Gobowen, England
🔵 After more than six years of service at the Deva Community Stadium, we can confirm that Academy Manager Mike Allcock will depart Chester FC at the end of the month.
Mike originally arrived as Youth Team Assistant Manager and Lead Technical Coach back in August 2020, before being promoted to his current position in May 2022.
The UEFA A Licenced Coach also spent more than three years as First Team Coach, as the Blues made it into two Play-Off campaigns and into the FA Cup First Round Proper twice.
As Academy Manager, Mike guided the Under 18’s to the First Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup twice, whilst also helping the Under 19’s to the National League U19 Alliance North Division title last season for the first time. Added to that are several Cup wins in the NWYA and a Final of the Academy Cup in 2025.
The Club will be advertising for the role of Youth Team Manager in due course via our official channels.
On behalf of everyone at Chester FC, we would very much like to thank Mike for all of his time and efforts with the club and wish him all the very best for the future. 💙
I've worked with a lot of talented journalists. Joe is one of the very best. Whoever lands him next gets a TOP operator. – at Oswestry, England
🚨 Some personal news: I'm leaving @LivEchonews
It's been some 16 years, covering everything from investigations to corruption, campaigning over Hillsborough and, now, covering Everton.
I've a few weeks to go, so time to say goodbye. But to everyone who has helped me, thank you

Piece for @ObserverUK on how clubs have had to plug an £80m gap this season.
Thanks to @KieranMaguire and Mike Haywood for the insights.

Anyway. I'm not falling out with people on the Internet.
Hope this works out for Liverpool and for football. I have my reservations on the latter, but I'm a Chester fan and don't live in that world so less impactful to me.
FWIW I think FSG have been good owners. Sue me. – at Selçuk, İzmir
And on this. There is such thing as portfolio diversification. Think about personal portfolio, this is what is being built. It's not an Amazon investment. Sport has no correlation to fluctuation of markets. Stock can plummet hard. No smart rich person puts it in the one basket. – at Selçuk, İzmir
