Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshiping. - Hubert Reeves

Half of England is in drought after record-breaking heatwaves, yet most of our media want to talk about the "problem" of refugees whilst giving airtime to absurd & dehumanising policies from Reform UK.
Politicians who scapegoat refugees and migrants have no interest in making your life better.
If they really cared, they would take on corporations holding this country to ransom.
They would end the daylight robbery of privatisation.
And they would tackle the real cause of society's problems: a grotesquely unequal economy that sucks wealth away from the majority to an elite few.

I saw a post on Reddit that said that “The underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.” And I don’t think I’ve ever seen AI described so incisively.

How is Eketike not interfering with play when he runs around Milenkovic, blocks him and then attempts to pull him back? He was in the melee which led to the goal and enabled MacAllaster to not be taken out by Milenkovic. #NFFC

VAR offsides are fundamentally flawed.
Why are they using computer generated graphics of players to justify a decision?
This is wide open to abuse for manipulation & corruption. I can create this image using AI and I can move any digital player anywhere I want. I can nudge him a few millimeters to the left or right. We’re being shown these computer generated graphics and we’re all supposed to swallow it as gospel.
Why aren’t we seeing the actual real match still footage and then the lines being drawn? Sky can get any angle and any close up they want for their coverage & promos, so don’t give me any nonsense about live replay footage being blurred or angles being wrong. It’s nonsense.
We’re being sold a kipper and it smells well fishy.

VAR conveniently resurrecting the 5cm tolerance rule to gift Liverpool a blatant offside goal - just like they did vs Fulham - while it mysteriously vanished for Casemiro's goal vs West Ham.
Harry Maguire was 'impacting play' from offside without even touching the ball vs Fulham, but Hugo Ekitike's clear interference in Liverpool's winner? Total blind eye, so it's offside depending on the club?
Football's a farce when the rules bend for the darlings.

hot take: we preferred to go out to the theaters until prices got super high. then safety issues popped up, plus a pandemic lockdown kept us away. once we were ready to go back to the movies, prices were so egregious that people couldn't go.
we stayed home, watched streaming and the more we watched, the higher the prices got there, too. now it just feels like we're being punished for trying to find reasonable entertainment while shareholders are scrambling to recover pandemic losses and find easy future profits.
greed is making it all complicated and it doesn't need to be.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the current state of the box office is a sign that people want to "watch movies at home"
"What is the consumer trying to tell us? That they’d like to watch movies at home, thank you. The studios and the theaters are duking it out over trying to preserve this 45-day window that is completely out of step with the consumer experience of just loving a movie."
