Met Police going from "what letter?" to "oh, that letter" to "we shared it with the DoS, told her allegations would be investigated, sat on it for 8yrs & neglected to share it with other law enforcement agencies" to "we are referring ourselves to the police watchdog" - in 24hrs.
Scotland Yard has confirmed that a letter containing several allegations was shared with Meghan Markle, but the details of those allegations were not shared with other law enforcement agencies.
They're also investigating how the matter was handled and considering whether to refer itself to the police watchdog.

Meghan was informed of disturbing allegations against her father in the summer of 2018, AFTER her wedding to Prince Harry.
She was assured the allegations were being investigated. A source close to the couple says she was advised that speaking publicly could jeopardize the investigation.
SO WHAT EXACTLY DID YOU EXPECT HER TO DO? Hold a press conference announcing allegations that hadn't been proven?
And Meghan has now explained why she kept Archie and Lilibet away from their grandfather: TO PROTECT HER CHILDREN.
For YEARS, people called her cruel for maintaining those boundaries. Now some of those SAME people are attacking her for not publicly discussing allegations under investigation!

The Sun has seen a copy of the 2018 letter sent to the Met’s specialist Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC), which assesses threats posed by fixated individuals targeting the Royal Family and other VIPs.
The letter’s author alleged that Thomas Markle had admitted travelling to the Philippines and Thailand to abuse children.
