Tip for surviving heat: waterproof cool mat (dog ones good). Sports wet towel. A fan. Soak towel in cold water, wipe as much of your body as possible. Lie on mat by fan. Fan lifts heat and does job of sweat. Keep wet towel on waterproof cool mat throughout night. #ukheatwave

#Autistic children are being denied assessment because they are not outwardly disruptive, even though they are suffering terribly inwardly. This causes me great anguish as I know the dreadful price they may end up having to pay (I was diagnosed Autistic five years ago, aged 58).

So important. So many of us had to wait until we were severely unwell young women (early twenties, for me). I guess it was easy to fly under the radar when you’re a quiet, well behaved kid who achieved pretty average grades despite having many silent struggles and meltdowns.

Cannot believe what I've just read - a fellow health professional disclosed on registering with the @The_HCPC that they were autistic only to be hit with 'Fitness to Practice concerns' 😑 Would love to hear how the HCPC can justify this (and still take ££ from many autistic HCPs)

What they mean: "I want to know whether to activate my short term waiting mode where I just wait and do nothing else, or activate my long term waiting mode where I occupy my mind with something else. I fully understand that both are possibilities, and I have no problem whatsoever with either one, but I want more information so I can best adapt to the situation." What neurotypical people hear: "I am impatient and demand that everything I want happen right now. Please scold me and publicly humiliate me for it."
