Aang is honestly the weakest of the three generations of Avatars we’ve seen, and I don’t think people are ready for that conversation. Look at the difference. Korra demonstrated that she could bend three elements at just FOUR YEARS OLD. By seventeen, she had mastered all four elements, learned metalbending, developed spiritbending, opened the spirit portals, restored bending to people who had lost it, and even rebuilt Raava after Vaatu destroyed her. She also developed seismic sense, giving her another way to perceive and interact with the world through earthbending. Then we have the new generation with Pavi and Nisha, two nine-year-old girls who can already bend all four elements. Pavi has also demonstrated seismic sense, a skill that even Aang never mastered. And then there’s Aang. At twelve, Aang had only mastered airbending. Yes, he eventually mastered all four elements, defeated Ozai and learned energybending, but let’s not pretend his journey was more impressive in every category. Korra could metalbend, something Aang never demonstrated. She could spiritbend, a technique Aang never learned. She also opened the spirit portals and accomplished things that fundamentally changed the Avatar world. Aang is an incredible Avatar, but when we’re comparing their demonstrated abilities, I genuinely think Korra deserves far more credit than this fandom gives her.
