IRNA reported that several explosions were heard on Qeshm Island, with their intensity suggesting they may have occurred within the island.
The agency said the cause and nature of the explosions remain unknown, and no official statement has been issued regarding the incident.
It added that some residents reported seeing two aircraft flying over the island.

I'm old enough to remember when Labour respected the democratic decision of the working class.

Back then, she warned that holding a second Brexit referendum would mean politicians had "failed the public". Parliament's job, she argued, was to honour the result and get on with delivering Brexit.
Fast forward to October 2026, and the same Angela Rayner is defending Andy Burnham's insistence that "nothing is off the table" in discussions with Brussels, as freedom of movement and even a return to the single market are being openly considered.
Of course, Rayner insists any future changes should be put to voters at a general election. But there's a remarkable difference between the language of 2019 and what we're hearing today.
Labour once understood that democracy meant accepting the people's decision, even when the political establishment didn't like it.
Ten years after the referendum, Westminster is still debating how much of Brexit it can reverse, while our industries decline, public services struggle and communities wait for the change they were promised.
The British people voted to take back democratic control. It's about time our politicians found the courage to exercise it.

OTD in 1917, the Balfour Declaration was issued - a landmark act of British settler-colonial engineering.
Britain promised land it did not own to secure imperial trade routes and entrench its hegemony in the Middle East. It was a classic "divide and rule" tactic, denying self-determination to the 90% Arab majority without their knowledge or consent.
As communists, our fight is against British imperialism, not the Jewish people. Anti-imperialism is not antisemitism - it is the defence of self-determination for all colonised nations.
Today, we demand an immediate arms embargo and an end to British complicity in occupation.
