New Apple TV 4K is too expensive, so I decided to virtualize one on my Mac instead of buying it 😆

ALT A virtual machine window displays tvOS 27.2 running on macOS. The screen shows a snowy mountain range with a bright blue sky and scattered clouds. The word “hallo” appears in large, light blue cursive text in the center, and a smaller message at the bottom reads, “Press the middle button to continue.” The virtual machine title bar indicates the device name “tv4k4” and its local IP address.

iPhone Duo is here! Excited to have worked on the design of our open/close transition. It’s designed to make the two displays feel like one seamless experience by perceptually bending the focal plane, not the content, so that it feels like opening a window onto a singular view.
Looking for a fun app to try out on iPhone Duo? Check out ChibiStudio 4! Try playing around with laptop mode in the chibi canvas 👀

The simulator runtime for iOS 27.2 supports iPhone Duo now, but it still comes with almost none of the built-in apps. That doesn’t mean you can’t just install them from the non-Duo iOS 27.2 runtime via “xcrun simctl install” though 😏
I really wanted to see what the HomeView setup UI looks like on device, so I adapted my little ESP32 Apple accessory emulator firmware to broadcast its Bluetooth advertisements 😅
Of course the first thing I did with my iPhone 18 Pro was to write an app that allows me to control the variable aperture from my Mac so that I could record it moving using a microscope, as one does.
I think I finally found a Liquid Glass design for the ChibiStudio category browser that I’m happy with 🤔

I built Light Touch, a full-featured iPod touch 2G emulator for Mac. Networking + Wayback Machine proxy, GLES/3D games support, a built-in app store via legacystore.app, rotation, screen capture, the works. Have fun github.com/samhenrigold/Ligh…

anyway in 2007 Apple secretly backported the prerelease implementation of Core Animation (nee LayerKit) to the Tiger fork used by the original Apple TV, so I extracted the Apple TV binary, transplanted it into Tiger, resolved its private framework dependencies, and now Tiger has Core Animation. it's a christmas miracle

Are you a developer working on iOS 27 app updates? Drowning in screenshots and screen recordings?
I made something for you. Free and open source.
Apple Frames CLI lets you (or your agent) frame any screenshot or screen recording from any Apple device.
It supports *every* official Apple frame color, grouped batches, it can merge images and videos, and so much more.
I just released version 1.4 with even faster performance, videos with transparent background, and lots of fixes.
This has been a labor of love over the last few months, and I hope it can help you automate your App Store screenshots as much as it helps me for my articles ☺️
