Our investigation and results suggest the Internet would be better off without the ORIGIN attribute. In modern BGP, it doesn’t really make sense to have.
Read more in our post
blog.cloudflare.com/bgp-orig…
Nearly 70% of BGP paths have their ORIGIN attribute rewritten by transit providers - for traffic advantages, not correctness. We mapped the global impact and argue it's time to deprecate ORIGIN in route selection.

Workers Cache — Your Cloudflare Worker now has its own tiered cache in front of it:
blog.cloudflare.com/workers-…
Workers Cache is a programmable tiered cache between Workers — even between code running in the same Worker
we’ve seen pretty much every approach to caching over the years from our customers, and Workers Cache is the direct result of everything we’ve learned
it takes all the workarounds and clever hacks we’ve seen to make sites and APIs fast, and simplifies them down to writing JavaScript and returning Cache-Control headers
you can use for so much — for us this is like shipping 12 different things on the same day
first up — you can use it to place your app near your database, cache its responses, and run code in front close to users:

This is my favorite new thing - by @Cloudflare.
Leveraging shared knowledge is vastly underused.
Gzip: 92KB
Shared dictionary: 159 bytes
99.5% smaller 🤯
Compression just got a memory. Blog + live demo:

The explosion of AI-bot traffic, representing over 10 billion requests per week, has opened up new challenges and opportunities for cache design. We look at some of the ways AI bot traffic differs from humans, how this impacts CDN cache, and some early ideas for how Cloudflare is designing systems to improve both the AI and human experience. cfl.re/4toxBof

We always strive to be as transparent as possible in these types of situations, and we will be publishing an in-depth blog shortly.
Sharing an update on the recovery of our services. We were able to resolve the impact to traffic flowing through our network at approximately 14:30 UTC, which was our first priority, but the incident required some additional work to fully restore our control plane (our dashboard and the APIs our customers use to configure Cloudflare).
The control plane should now be fully available. We are monitoring those services and continuing to ensure that everything is fully operational. Again, we plan to share a complete walkthrough of what went wrong today in a couple of hours and how we plan to make sure this never happens again.

Powering 1 in 5 sites on the Internet, @CloudflareDev is both beloved by developers and somehow massively under-appreciated.
The response to this rebrand has been overwhelmingly positive. Cloudflare is a critical pillar of the Internet.

I'm always in for a nice post-quantum announcement, but let's not forget the classical achievement: we brought modern encryption to six million customers! The lesson? To bring encryption to everyone, it has to turn on by automatically.
Cloudflare automatically upgraded security for over 6M domains with Automatic SSL/TLS, ensuring safer connections to origins without customer effort. Now we’re extending this to post-quantum cryptography. cfl.re/3IhJ2wq #BirthdayWeek

On July 14th, 2025, Cloudflare made a change to our service topologies that caused an outage for 1.1.1.1 on the edge, resulting in downtime for 62 minutes for customers using the 1.1.1.1 public DNS Resolver as well as intermittent degradation of service for Gateway DNS: cfl.re/4lvAcJD

I've discovered that you can literally just send important people pictures of cats and for some reason they feel compelled to respond
I sent the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Cloudflare a cat picture and he responded with a cat picture

There have been two common responses to this tweet, let me address both:
Firstly, “how is it so fast”? Massive Cloudflare edge caching and k-anonymity that distils queries queries down to 16^5 different possibilities retrieved from a local edge node: troyhunt.com/closer-to-the-e…

We're now serving well over 12 *BILLION* requests every month from Pwned Passwords 😲 And we served 99.97% of those requests from one of 335 Cloudflare edge nodes around the world. This service totally rocks 😎

I often rant about how so much of cloud is a rip-off, but @Cloudflare is the exact opposite. I keep thinking we're getting away with robbery: So much utility, such small bills. @eastdakota has cracked some magic code! 🤘
