The problem with 'the lesser of two evils' is that the evils get more evil while the choice remains static.
Settle down and let the kids have some fun. It's not a satanic ritual unless you make it one.
To all of my fellow Christians fussing about celebrating Halloween - I was raised in a literal Christian Conference Center where we all decorated our houses and went trick or treating, and not one parent thought twice about it.
the sun rises now
at a different time;
are the clocks wrong?
how will i go on?
tomorrow will come
even if we protest
and calendars remain still.
time advances
no matter how we clamour
and no matter how we define
seconds, minutes, hours.
this is why
i measure time with music.

People often blame the decline of reading on the decline of attention spans but then forget that we live in a society where people can spend six hours dissecting a celebrity breakup.
We don't have an attention problem. We have a hierarchy-of-attention problem.
The government should not be in the student loan business - universities should fund their own expensive product and young students should be more accurately underwritten.
Better financial education during K-12 would also help.
This isn't D vs R, it's about better financial literacy; students are simply willing participants in a flawed system. I, someone who does not carry debt, should not have to subsidize someone else's poor decision, ad infinitum, through taxes I am compelled to pay.
My student loans were taken out based on generous income based repayment plans with monthly payments of around $500.
Now thanks to Trump killing off the SAVE plan for no reason but he hated Biden it will be ballooning to $1400 a month and will end up at 4Xs the loan amounts.
How do I sue for breech of contract??
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Contrary to the post, loans predate SAVE (created 2023; PhD 2015) & were under prior IDR plans at lower income then. SAVE vacated by Mar 2026 court order after litigation/settlement, not Trump alone.

'Barbaric'.
Good Lord, what a delicate flower. It's an hour, twice a year and I forget about it less than a minute after the deed is done.
Politicians are so used to hyperbole that it becomes part of their regular speech.
It's really a testament to control of information when not one public resource I have consulted is able to tell me which ballots should have a certain initiative listed on them.
There is so much cloak and dagger going on with American elections and it's disgusting.
Despite all of the leaps forward in technology, customer service and support discovers new lows with every encounter. I have no faith in any interaction with any product or service I use.
This is what happens when you try to automate and offshore your support pool.

What’s a polite way to tell someone, “I’m not discussing this with you because your entire understanding of the subject is built on so many interconnected misconceptions that correcting them would require uninstalling your current worldview and starting the tutorial from birth”?
I just this morning watched one of my favorite arcs of Star Trek Next Gen episodes: Season 2 - Contagion, The Royale, Time Squared. So long, Captain.
Can it be coincidence that the width of my freezer and the width of a frozen pizza box are equivalent?

It's not that most people aren't on the same page. It's that they aren't even on the same book.
I haven't watched a Super Bowl halftime show since Prince, but if The Smashing Pumpkins were there, I'd absolutely watch.
