Now we'll finally learn what's in the Epstein files. Mike Johnson is no longer in a position to shut down the House in order to prevent votes on measures to force their release. It's time. It's past time.

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls.
That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching.
I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee.
Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

We hold these mysteries to be self-evident:
That existence is astonishing.
That certainty is often the graveyard of discovery.
That the impossible is merely the possible awaiting introduction.
That joy is not a reward for understanding the world, but a way of exploring it.
That imagination is not an escape from reality. It is how we enlarge it.
That wonder is not childish. The loss of wonder is.

Nothing says a country's not a dictatorship like having to issue grovelling apologies for mentioning that it was in the past.

The next great "language for agents" should be:

There is nothing to worry about.
Nothing important is run on PHP or old software—except the water & electrical grid, a few government services like our missile defense systems and a handful of electrified fences at the zoo (for the lions, tigers and cobras).

I’ve been using Grok Bot to prototype physical product ideas faster. I give it sketches and 3D models, and it helps me create technical diagrams, prepare RFQs, and communicate with manufacturers to bring them to life.

I’m always impressed when people discover new heights in a career path that everyone assumes has a “cap”.
Nathan Fielder was already the new hit “Silly Camera Guy.” Every few years a new one emerges after people get sick of the humor of the last guy—like Sasha Baron Cohen, Eric Andre, Tim & Eric, and Tom Green.
But what’s remarkable is that he used his 15 minutes of fame to break out of “Silly Camera Guy” and prove that he is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time.

To publish something on a paywalled site is to make it invisible. If AIs can't find it, then for all practical purposes it doesn't exist.

14 yo asked how to write good essays. I asked if he meant the kind kids write in school, or actual good essays as written by adults. How strange that I have to ask that. If he asked how to solve a math problem, I wouldn't have to ask if he meant the school way or the real way.

Before it became possible to get rich by creating wealth, the way to do it was to be on the winning side in a military or political dispute.
After William conquered England in 1066, he incorporated 21% of the land in England as his royal estate.
Then came the rewards for his close followers: 57 people were given control of half the land in England.
Based on the origin of names in the Domesday Book, we can see that almost all major landholders were Norman; only a few hundred English landholders (mostly with smaller lands) are named, who in total possessed just 8% of the landed wealth in England (this figure includes ecclesiastical landholding as well; if only private landholders are counted, it would be even lower)."
