#Rwanda is an authoritarian state where critics are targeted and killed, their bodies left in public. Look at what happened to Sgt. Major Robert Kabera💔These are not isolated cases. @F1, associating with #kagame's regime raises serious questions about your values.

Africa deserves #F1 but not as a sportswashing campaign for #Rwanda's regime, we can’t let dictator #Kagame keep getting away with everything. #SouthAfrica deserved the African Grand Prix, but @F1 chose to sell its soul, No race is worth human life.

DRC and Rwanda:
We have released a report detailing horrific human rights abuses by Rwanda-backed M23 fighters against artisanal miners in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) while facilitating the trafficking of gold and coltan to neighbouring Rwanda with the help of Rwandan authorities. Rwanda has continued to profit from the exploitation of DRC’s mineral wealth.
The abuses against miners include summary killings, torture and ill-treatment, arbitrary detention, forced labour and forced recruitment and may amount to war crimes.
@Amnesty also believes that the plunder by M23 and Rwanda of DRC’s gold and coltan may amount to the war crime of pillage.
Rwandans may bear international criminal responsibility for facilitating the trafficking of pillaged minerals to Rwanda. Rwanda may also bear state responsibility for the horrific abuses against miners if Rwandans in the mines are acting under the direction or control of Rwanda, even if they are not employees of the government.
Our recommendations:
✔️@Amnesty is calling for all countries and companies to cease the purchase of coltan and gold from Rwanda – or processors and refineries from third countries that buy these minerals from suppliers in Rwanda – until the Rwandan government provides concrete evidence that it has ended the receipt of coltan and gold trafficked from DRC.
✔️Rwanda’s authorities must also ensure that armed or other Rwandans are not present at and play no role in abuses at the Lomera and Rubaya mining sites.
✔️The weight of evidence from Amnesty International and others means that corporations cannot claim ignorance. Their purchase of minerals out of Rwanda – and from the smelters that buy from Rwanda – is likely to contribute to human rights abuses by M23 in Rubaya and Lomera. Corporations could be held criminally responsible for complicity in war crimes.”

The U.S. is sanctioning six targets supporting networks smuggling conflict minerals out of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to benefit the Rwanda-backed M23 armed group. Our actions support the Washington Accords for Peace and Prosperity. The DRC’s mineral wealth should be a source of opportunity for the Congolese people, not a driver of instability.

This is a very stupid question coming from someone who calls themselves 'Africans.' You should at least know your history.
Like most peoples of the world, Africans identify with their ancestral land, where their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc., are buried.
If their ancestral land is located in the colonial products that are modern Congo, Uganda, or Tanzania, all of whose borders were drawn by foreigners, then they are Congolese, Ugandan, and Tanzanian, respectively.
By the way, this is true for Banyarwanda and Barundi.
Barundi are in eastern Congo (they even have a traditional king) and western Tanzania. They are Congolese and Tanzanians, respectively.
Those who don't like the current borders as drawn in Berlin should return the people with their land.
Why do some Rwandans refuse to identify as Rwandan? They should be proud of it. What is it about Rwanda that makes them reject the label? Many prefer to be called Congolese or Ugandan instead. It seems Paul Kagame has turned the country into a place that feels like hell rather than one to be proud of.

U.S. law restricts military assistance and training to governments whose forces recruit or use child soldiers. Because of the long and brutal conflict involving armed groups in eastern Congo, the #DRC has previously been subject to these restrictions.
New US assessments show that the government of President Félix Tshisekedi (@FelixUdps @Presidence_RDC) is taking meaningful and sustained steps to eliminate the use of child soldiers and strengthen accountability within its security institutions. These efforts are producing measurable progress and reflect the determination of the Congolese government and people to restore peace and stability.
In recognition of this progress, and in light of growing U.S. strategic interests in the stability of Central Africa, the @realDonaldTrump Administration has authorized a waiver allowing certain U.S. security cooperation and training programs with the DRC to continue.
The US stands with the Congolese people in their pursuit of sovereignty, security, and a peaceful future. Continued partnership with the DRC reflects a shared commitment to regional stability and to ensuring that the Congolese people can fully benefit from the prosperity of their nation.

On this International Women’s Day 2026, we stand in solidarity with the women of the Democratic Republic of Congo. For decades, conflict in eastern DRC has subjected countless women and girls to horrific acts of sexual violence, often used as a weapon of war.
We join the call of women across the region and around the world in sending #10MillionMessagesToKagame:
End the war in the DRC.
End the use of rape and sexual violence as tools of conflict.
Protect the lives, dignity, and rights of Congolese women and girls.
We call on President @PaulKagame and all actors involved in this conflict to take immediate steps to halt violence, respect international law, and support a just and lasting peace.
Enough is enough.

#TRANSCRIBED 😡💔 MESSAGE TO PAUL KAGAME
My name is Dr. Deborah Kayembe ( @DKAYEMBE)
On this International Women’s Day, I am joining the global protest in favor of the women of Congo. We are sending 10 million messages to Paul Kagame.
Mr. Kagame, the women and children of Congo have suffered enough. We are calling on you to take your puppets from the M23 militia out of our country.
Mr. Kagame, we are not begging and we are not imploring. We are asking you now: leave our nation alone. Leave our people alone. We have suffered enough.
Some of the world’s worst atrocities have happened under your leadership of the M23 in eastern Congo.
Today, together with women around the world, we speak with one voice:
We want peace. Stop the rapes. Leave our country alone.
Thank you.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
On March 8, International Women’s Day, women across the world are raising their voices for the women of Congo.
Today, they speak with one voice, sending a clear message to Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, who supports rebels esp M23, backed by Rwandan army that kill and rape Congolese women. 😭😭
“Kagame, stop the rapes. Leave Congo. We want peace.”
This message is part of a campaign launched by Dr. Deborah Kayembe ( @DeboraK_RDC ) calling for justice for Congolese women.
For decades, women in eastern Congo have lived with the pain and scars of war.

US sanctions against Rwanda's army are followed by visa restrictions on "several senior Rwandan officials" for fuelling instability in eastern DRC. US doesn't say who is intended, but it's hard to think of anyone better fitting the description than Kagame state.gov/releases/office-of…

Good morning. This is Dr. Von Batten. A short time ago, Secretary of State Marco Rubio (@SecRubio) announced a new round of sanctions targeting members of the @PaulKagame regime.
Effective immediately, all visas issued to key members of the #Kagame regime have been revoked, and those individuals are no longer welcome in the United States. Under U.S. law, visa restrictions extend to the immediate family members of sanctioned individuals. Accordingly, all visas issued to those family members are also revoked with immediate effect. Any affected family members currently in the United States should determine whether they are subject to the ban and, if so, depart the country immediately.
Entry into the United States is a privilege, not a right. Those who commit human rights abuses and war crimes are not welcome here. President @PaulKagame, in his official capacity as head of state, is not affected by these measures. However, if he continues down this destructive path, he may one day discover that he has crossed a line from which there is no return.

We have been informed that the likelihood of #Rwanda remaining in AGOA after the AGOA Committee submits its recommendation to President @realDonaldTrump later this year is zero.
The @PaulKagame regime is in clear violation of Section 104 of the Act, and we will argue that point forcefully when the AGOA TPSC Subcommittee convenes its hearing in July. We look forward to hearing the fantastic arguments and justifications Rwanda’s advocates will present in an effort to keep the country in AGOA.
AGOA is a US law that grants eligible African countries duty-free access to the U.S. market, and Rwanda has profited significantly from that privilege. In 2024 alone, Rwanda exported approximately $368.9 million under AGOA preferences. We believe those benefits have disproportionately favored #Kagame @UrugwiroVillage and his inner circle. That era is coming to an end.
