♟️DEAL NEWS!♟️ From @AlexDWillan, the creative mind behind UNICORNS ARE THE WORST! comes a new book PIECE OUT, as announced in @PublishersLunch & @PWKidsBookshelf with @astrakidsbooks! #picturebook #pieceout
Rebecca Davis at Astra Young Readers has acquired picture book PIECE OUT by author-illustrator Alex Willan (Unicorns Are the Worst), in which Red, an unassuming game piece, is left out of the box after a rousing Family Game Night and must fend for itself in an epic quest to get back to the safety of the game closet. Publication is scheduled for spring 2025; Lori Kilkelly at LK Literary Agency handled the deal for world rights.

The protagonist in PIECE OUT is Red, a game piece, who has been left out of its game box after a rousing family game night and must survive the return trip to the safety of the game closet. Here we see Red running from an unseen pursuer, likely the vacuum.

My students and staff had a lot of fun with this one. We followed up this week with Ame Dykman’s You Don’t Want a Unicorn and You Don’t Want a Dragon. A few would now like to change their vote. #thelibraryismyclassroom
