BUILDING A HEALTHIER KATSINA, ONE MILESTONE AT A TIME
In July, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda (@dikko_radda) delivered the first-ever General Hospital in Dandume Local Government Area and strengthened healthcare delivery with the recruitment of 1,020 frontline health workers to improve access to quality medical services across the state.
Just when it seemed the momentum could not grow stronger, August has delivered yet another historic milestone with the commissioning of the first-ever General Hospital in Zango Local Government Area, ensuring that residents can now access quality secondary healthcare closer to home without travelling long distances.
Beyond expanding access to healthcare, the administration is investing in the future of the sector through the renovation of specialist hospitals, the establishment of a modern 16-bed Dialysis Centre, accreditation of residency training programmes, sponsorship of medical students abroad, and the planned establishment of Katsina's first Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant to produce essential medicines and medical consumables locally.
These are deliberate investments aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure, expanding the health workforce, improving specialized medical services, and building a self-reliant healthcare system that serves every citizen, regardless of location.
This is another significant milestone towards BuildingKatsinaBeyond2027 where quality healthcare is becoming more accessible, affordable, and sustainable for all.

As someone from Katsina, I’m always happy to see investments that directly improve the lives of ordinary people. Healthcare is not just about buildings; it’s about mothers getting care on time, children receiving treatment and families not having to travel far for basic medical services.
The new General Hospital in Dandume and the upgrades across the state are steps in the right direction. I hope the government sustains the investment in staff, equipment, drugs and maintenance.
Kudos to Governor Dikko Umar Radda and his team for prioritising healthcare and bringing these services closer to our people.

Education is one of the most effective long-term responses to insecurity. Every qualified teacher deployed today is another opportunity to keep a child in the classroom and away from the cycle of violence, ignorance and poverty. The appointment of 2,158 new teachers is a commendable investment in Katsina's future. Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and his administration deserve credit for prioritising education and human capital development.

Security is a shared responsibility, not a political tool. Lasting peace requires unity, sincere collaboration, support for our security agencies, and prayers for the safety and progress of our communities.

As a state battling the combined effects of insecurity, displacement, poverty and food insecurity, Katsina State's commitment of ₦500 million in counterpart funding to the Child Nutrition Fund is a timely and strategic intervention.
Improving child nutrition goes beyond healthcare, it strengthens community resilience, supports child development and helps reduce the long-term humanitarian consequences of conflict.
This is a commendable initiative by the Katsina State Government. Sustained investments in child welfare are essential to building a healthier, more resilient, and more secure future for the state.

As someone who reports on conflict in Katsina, I've learned that insecurity is too costly to be treated as a political contest. Every attack leaves real victims, shattered families and communities struggling to recover.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda's message at the 2026 Yaumul Shukur, that the protection of lives must come before politics is a principle all stakeholders should embrace. Sustainable peace will only come through collective responsibility, support for lawful security efforts, accountability and unity above partisan interests.

Dating is so hard now. Everyone is on guard. A whole competition. Who calls first. Who is less affectionate. Act like you don’t really need them so they don’t get too comfortable with you. Etc. you can’t just be yourself? It’s very stressful.
