Pinned Tweet
I just worked out how to pin a tweet.
Happy Birthday Everyone!
🥳
While I am recommending things to listen to, my favourite song of the last decade may well be The Corner by @lewsberg.
Imagine the Velvet Underground, but cool.
Something like that.
It is a site run by a guy who is pretty much Dr Evil with a hair transplant.
I don't come on X much anymore for obvious reasons, but came back just to say that I think Gary by @BlossomsBand is a great record.
It put me in a good mood having a listen to it just now.
Thanks for the reply, Conor. A driver has arrived. 15 hours after I first broke down.
Obviously I shall be cancelling my 20 year+ RAC membership as soon as I get home and giving @TheAA_UK a ring.

Hi Alex, I am sorry to read of the delay you have experienced last night and into this morning. Could you please kindly DM us your vehicle reg and contact number, so we can get this looked into further for you and what happened during this event. Thanks, ^Conor xitter.cf/messages/compose?recip…
No I’m not. It’s now been 15 hours since I broke down. Still no truck. I was just talked over by an operator who told me why I was “a priority” and a truck would be dispatched when it “became available”.
Oh and @RAC_Care ignore every one of these messages.
Mind blowing.

Hello @RAC_Care
It’s now 15 hours I’ve been waiting for a truck. You don’t even have the courtesy to reply on here?
You do have consistency, I suppose, as that’s pretty much what I’ve been getting when I call your call centre.
Hello @RAC_Care. I see you’re now answering tweets, but not mine. It’s nearly 14 hours I’ve been waiting for a truck. Any clue as to what is going on?
The operator I spoke to on the phone said he couldn’t speak to a manager because “if he disturbed them he’s lose his job”

Hi @TheRAC_UK @RAC_Care. I've been waiting to be picked up from a motorway breakdown for 7 hours. Your operators don't seem to know what is going on. Or say trucks have been dispatched when they haven't. Is this normal? Is this my life now? Waiting for the truck that never comes?

🤞

This is a great architectural loss to Glasgow. I have a particular connection to this building, as just behind it is the old factory where @Franz_Ferdinand put on our first events in an old factory we called The Chateau. We used to enter it via this building sometimes.
India Buildings on Bridge Street has had a roof collapse, destabilising the façade. Neighbouring residents have been evacuated.
Demolition is sadly inevitable now. Just been on site. I'm working with Council officers to try to save the carved pediment and chimneys from the roof.

ALT Main façade of India Buildings on Bridge Street. The roof ridge is badly sagging at the north (left) side, and the chimney at the north end is out of plumb as a result. Meanwhile, the roof at the south (right) corner has also collapsed. As a result, the wallhead at that corner is no longer tied in, so it looks like it has detached, so it is not safe. Building Control officers managed to gain access to the interior from the warehouse building to the east and say that the floors inside have also given way, so it looks like the whole building is structurally compromised. A large block of stone has fallen off from the south side of the building and is now sitting on the pavement in front.
After we stopped using it, it was used by artists as studio space for a while until one of the staircases collapsed when some people were carrying some industrial sewing machines up them. Or at least that’s the story I heard.
I remember the landlord. He owned most of the block from what I remember. Not a bad guy, just completely lost and out of his depth. Didn’t know what to do with the buildings and didn’t have the funds either. He let us do what we wanted there in return for patching up the windows.
