It has reached the point where it is better to fly. Eurostar have zero respect for their customers. Let’s hope competition kicks in and remove Eurostar’s monopolistic position. They will finally realise they need to provide a proper service!

No point travelling with ⁦@Eurostar⁩ anymore. Such a poor service. Chaotic security and passport controls. Time for @eurostar to lose its monopoly!

'There are serious issues at stake in this general election, and the Tories have just released nonsense figures with fake attribution and given it to newspapers who took it on trust. I’m really not sure that this will help their chances very much.' ✍️ Fraser Nelson

At @ChathamHouse energy transitions conference @BlavatnikSchool’s @rkyte365 brilliant - taking no prisoners, clear on what needs to be done, impatient with excuses, so knowledgeable. #CHEnergy

If Cameron does become Foreign Secretary on the eve of COP28 it's worth recalling he talked a good game on climate, helped drive coal off the UK grid, and pushed for an ambitious deal at the Paris Summit. And then blocked renewables development and slashed efficiency funding.

Completely outrageous service from @GWRHelp. Second rush hour train I am on that is severely overcrowded. Only 5 cars. Now train manager refusing to let the train leave Paddington. And we pay £70 for the privilege of a 40-minute return journey. It’s a joke. But it’s not funny.

NEW from Politico: Tory rising star Kemi Badenoch met with Rupert Murdoch just days after joining the Cabinet, and failed to declare it in transparency data. Contacted by Politico, her dept described this as an oversight Scoop via @Stefan_Boscia politico.eu/article/kemi-bad…

Do watch this. Even now, I can’t quite believe what has become of Britain in such a short period. We have a Republican Trump loving party in government.
'The most successful, most dynamic, no nonsense news station, and the defenders of free speech'. Watch the moment @pritipatel passionately defended GB News to rapturous applause this evening at the Conservative Democratic Organisation gala dinner.

Loving @EvanHD taking Tory nonce to task on conspiracy theories re 15-min cities on @BBCPM this afternoon. Class interviewing of Party that seems to have lost touch with common sense and honesty.

Just finished this amazing book, Matresence, by Lucy Jones. I cried, laughed, winced and harrumphed in recognition and agreement. A diatribe, a tour de force, a gift.

Great piece by Geoff Mann in current edition of ⁦@LRB⁩ on climate change and uncertainty. Informative and measured but also an urgent call for a change of approach: lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v45/n17/…
