Together for Safe AI! 🤲
Today, #Finland 🇫🇮 & #Norway 🇳🇴 hosted a discussion among 32 countries on how we can work together to advance Safe AI at the @UN & beyond, with participation from Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister @akravik79.

Spoke with President of Finland @alexstubb and Prime Minister of Norway @jonasgahrstore following their call today with the Russian leader and as a continuation of our discussions in Oslo with representatives of America, Europe, and NATO. I am grateful for the detailed briefing and for their active support for our diplomacy and the peace efforts we are pursuing together with all our partners.
Alex and Jonas made it clear to the Russian leader that real de-escalatory steps are needed regarding our energy and infrastructure. We discussed preparations for the trilateral meeting planned for November at the team level – Ukrainian, American, and Russian. Finland and Norway, as countries that border Russia, have a particular interest in sound and reliable security arrangements. We also discussed various formats for our engagement with partners in Europe that could be useful in further supporting diplomacy, our defense, and our shared security.
There must be peace, de-escalation is needed, and Russia must stop dragging out the war. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine!

A great and inspiring meeting with Major General Christian Brejner Ishø, the new Commander of JATEC (Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre).
JATEC is the first and only joint NATO-Ukraine institution. Its aim is to transfer lessons learned from Ukraine’s experience of modern warfare, enhance interoperability, and ultimately transform both Ukraine and NATO.
Important work is already underway, and an even more ambitious agenda lies ahead.

I met with Norwegian Minister of Defense Tore O. Sandvik, Kongsberg President and CEO Eirik Lie, and representatives of the company, which manufactures NASAMS air defense systems. These systems effectively protect our people and critical infrastructure from Russian missile and drone strikes virtually every day. We are counting on additional defense support packages next month.
Norway is also actively involved in FREYJA, our European anti-ballistic program. We already have the first results in developing individual components of the system. Today, we identified where we can and must accelerate our work so that testing can begin by the end of this year. We also discussed in detail launching work on new satellite communication capabilities for our warriors. We will involve partners who have the capacity to provide support. Thank you, Norway!

Ukraine’s critical financial situation was a key topic at the @WorldBankGroup annual meeting this week.
Norway pledged NOK 750 M to a crisis mechanism, unlocking an additional three times that amount in loans to Ukraine.

Yes, Europe’s support to 🇺🇦Ukraine matters more than ever.
Thanks to the 🇪🇺EU for shouldering a heavy responsibility.
🇳🇴Norway’s support for Ukraine is as strong and unwavering. The Norwegian «Nansen Programme» 2023-2030 currently stands at NOK 274,5 billion/EUR 26 billion.

Europe’s steadfast support to Ukraine matters more than ever.
To help protect its skies, save lives, defend its land.
With today’s disbursement, we keep addressing Ukraine’s most urgent operational needs.
Including drones and missiles.

Following yesterday's counterproductive developments, today was a day of active diplomacy for Ukraine.
President @ZelenskyyUa has been holding nonstop talks with leaders of partner countries throughout the day.
At my level, I held conversations with my counterparts from the United Kingdom @Ed_Miliband, Germany @AussenMinDE, and Norway @EspenBarthEide.
Our partners' support remains unwavering.
We discussed not only how to maintain but also how to increase pressure on the Russian war machine. We also agreed on the schedule of our upcoming contacts.
Russian terror does not stop for a single hour. Russian bombs, missiles, and drones keep hitting our cities, killing innocent civilians, including children. Almost 100 people have been killed in just one week.
This is not the time for weakness.
Next week must become a week of European strength, resolve, and increased pressure on Moscow. Together, we can end Putin's celebrations and hit his economy and military-industrial complex with full force.
I am grateful to all of our partners who share this cause for the sake of our indivisible security and a sooner peace.

I completely agree, @andrii_sybiha. Good to talk to you today.
It’s time for stepping up the pressure on Russia, strengthening support for Ukraine, and work closely together among all who realise that the outcome of this war will define Europe’s security for decades to come.

Today I discussed new efforts to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs with President Zelenskyy. Main priority: air defense and protecting civilians and critical infrastructure. Norway will continue to stand with Ukraine.

⚡️Norway's 2027 budget includes almost $9 billion in new Ukraine support.
The money would be funneled into Norway's Nansen Support Program, named after humanitarian Fridtjof Nansen, who led famine relief efforts in Ukraine in the early 1920s.

A powerful visit by the NATO Military Committee to Ukraine:
-The first visit to Ukraine in eight years — and the first-ever to Kyiv.
-The first-ever NATO–Ukraine Council meeting at the Military Committee level.
A strong signal to Putin that support for Ukraine remains among NATO’s top priorities.
Our partnership is growing stronger, deeper, and increasingly becoming a genuine two-way street.
Proud to have been part of this landmark visit.
Special thanks to the @CMC_NATO for your leadership, and to the @CinC_AFU
@GeneralStaffUA for hosting the Committee in Ukraine and outlining Ukraine’s key priorities.

I am appalled by reports from Kramatorsk, where at least 30 people were killed when a Russian bomb struck public buses. This follows deadly Russian attacks on homes in Kyiv and Pryluky, with children among those killed. Attacks on civilians are unacceptable. We @StandWithUkraine.
