I am delighted to see Addenbrooke’s Hospital is to receive £7.7 million of government investment for urgent care.
The new funding, over four years, will develop digital information about beds, admissions and discharges.
This will help patient flow and improve outcomes.

A screeching u-turn from the Mayor today reversing his plans to cut bus services in Werrington.
Good work by local councillors and others fighting for local services. But we need to keep an eye on this.

Very sad to learn that Radio 4's The World Tonight is to be killed off in the latest round of BBC cuts. It has a long and honourable history as one of the more thoughtful BBC news programmes and I am proud to have been associated with it for more than twenty years.

Today, we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, and all victims of the Nazi regime and of genocides throughout history.
As we mark Holocaust Memorial Day, we honour those who were lost, and we recommit to building a brighter future.

As someone who ignored the home testing kit sent to me by the NHS - and only took action when they sent out a second kit two years later, my advice is simple. Don’t be like John! As a consequence of a colonoscopy - recommended after results of the home testing- I have recently had a follow up CT colonoscopy to determine treatment for a large stricture identified in the first procedure. Now awaiting follow up appointment with the excellent teams at Hinchingbroke and Peterborough hospitals to learn their treatment recommendations. It is good news that bowel cancer screening remains one of many NHS priorities but equally important is the need to act when offered this test. As I stated earlier- don’t be like John
Improved screening programme for bowel cancer could spot extra 600 cases early per year trib.al/hxm4v8m

This was a moment of joy and reflection yesterday in Parliament amongst all the hurt still happening in the Middle East.

There is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Hundreds of thousands lack food, shelter and sanitation while aid is held at the border. This is unforgivable.
Restrictions must be lifted, crossings opened and NGOs allowed to work.
The UK will do all it can to end this suffering.

Freezing rail fares, taking our railways back into public ownership so they serve those who use them not those who profit from them -

The Israeli government banning desperately needed aid from Gaza is not a sign of a working ceasefire. This at a time of extreme weather and lack of shelter. We need accountability more than ever. And immediate help to save lives.

🚨 NEW: Workers will get the biggest uplift in our rights in decades.
The Employment Rights Bill has passed in the House of Lords and will become law.
From April, every worker will get access to full statutory sick pay from the first day of illness.
And that's not all... 🧵
Anna4Labour retweeted
Even at this late stage, opposition Lords are STILL voting to water down key measures in the Employment Rights Bill - risking delaying key new rights like access to Statutory Sick Pay from Day One.
It can't go on like this. The Lords must get out of the way and let the Bill pass, so we can deliver the new rights working people desperately need.

On Saturday, for one day only, Mill Road’s beautiful Victorian library will be open to the public. The building has been empty for years but is a stunning space. Do pop in or visit the @LoveMillRoad stall in Ditchburn Gardens to find out more about the community’s plans for it.
