An intriguing early signal from an N-of-1 split-scalp experiment: adding VEGF gene therapy to standard AGA treatments was associated with a greater increase in hair diameter on the treated side. Hair density and anagen percentage also increased. #alopecia #vegf
Six months ago, I injected VEGF gene therapy into one half of my scalp and a placebo into the other. But the goal was more ambitious than simply outperforming the control. Across my entire scalp, I was using what I considered the best available hair-growth protocol: minoxidil, dutasteride, finasteride, red light, and additional treatments. Gene therapy had to deliver on top of that combination, not replace it. Six months later, across two areas without hair transplants, hair density on the VEGF-treated side was, on average, 20% higher than the control, with 62% of hairs in the growth phase versus 50%. At the back of my scalp, average hair diameter increased by 12%, while it decreased by 9% on the control side. This is a one-person experiment, and the findings need to be confirmed on a bigger population. But for me, it’s a breakthrough. That’s what REAL biohacking and gene therapy are about: taking the best of what’s available—and trying to go beyond it. Not just repeating what’s already been achieved, but expanding human potential.

🦞 Potentially more exciting than Moderna’s cancer vaccine + PD-1? Instead of selecting neoantigens and producing a personalized vaccine, researchers genetically reprogrammed tumor cells to present their own broad antigen repertoire and activate CD4/CD8 T cells. #cancervaccine

Big milestone for us at Unlimited Bio: our clinical trial participant, Reason from Fight Aging!, has received AAV-based follistatin gene therapy. The hardest part in biotech is not the idea — it’s translating it safely from animals to humans. Now the real learning begins.

Delighted to have Reason participate in our clinical trial and receive our AAV-Follistatin gene therapy
Great conversation between Reason and Niklas Anzinger on the FDA, GMP, and why clinical trials have become so slow and expensive. Plus of course Reason’s firsthand experience receiving AAV-follistatin as part of Unlimited Bio’s clinical trial in Próspera. youtu.be/x6tCq-eVwyA?is=C_P-…

🧬 Can humans really not live beyond 194 years? A new Nature paper estimates that if every hallmark of aging were solved except somatic mutations, human lifespan would be limited to ~146–194 years. Remove that constraint too, and the theoretical limit jumps to 1,759 years. 🔥?

Cool! Artificial womb is also warranted.
I’m so excited to share this update on @Conception – We’ve generated the first early human eggs derived from stem cells. This is a big deal -- the potential to redefine fertility is real.

Anti-capsid antibodies aren’t a universal rule. Some studies have shown that, under immunomodulatory regimens, patients did not develop anti-capsid antibodies. Plus, capsid immunity is a solvable technical challenge - quite different from the much harder problem of aging itself.
The hot new argument against even running clinical trials of certain gene therapies is that the patients involved might develop immunity to the delivery method, preventing them from taking future gene therapies with the same delivery. So let's never test gene therapies. Hurray!

Measuring comes first. Regeneration comes next. AI quantified thymus health from routine CT scans in 27,000+ people. And a healthier thymus tracked with lower mortality, less inflammation, and lower risk of age-related disease. nature.com/articles/s4158

A single AAV-FGF21 injection extended healthy lifespan in aged mice by ~20%. The most interesting part wasn’t the lifespan. It was preserved cognition, healthier liver, heart and kidneys, lower ectopic fat, and no reduction in food intake. My current bet: FGF21 + follistatin.

1/ Enhanced Games went in the wrong direction. The world does not really need another Olympics with legalized doping. What would actually be revolutionary is something very different 👇

7/ Games where we measure: VO₂max, recovery speed, muscle mass, reaction time, memory, resilience, cognitive performance. Not absolute Olympic records. But restoration of peakspan.

8/ That would actually push the longevity industry forward. Not just as entertainment — but as a real-world proof-of-concept for anti-aging interventions and performance restoration technologies. Peakspan matters more than records.
