Democrats have not won a gubernatorial election in Ohio since 2006. Trump won Ohio in 2024 by over 11 points, and current governor Mike DeWine won his first term in 2018 (which was a "blue wave" year) by almost 4 points. Based on current trends, Acton is unlikely to win the governorship in November.
