"My family never left the South for the Great Migration. I grew up 10 miles from a plantation.
On one side of my family, I am one generation removed from sharecropping. One of my parents was the first generation not to grow up in the fields."

Emma Mae [a.k.a. Black Sister's Revenge] (1976) is a brilliant film made by the late Jamaa Fanaka. Shot on location in Watts, California, and with a cast of mostly non-professional actors; this film is a great example of vivid and independent filmmaking in the 1970s.

I’m going through archival photos of my historically Black HS + HBCU + I’m moved to tears. Our ancestors fought so fiercely for our education. To see the faces of the women who helped make that possible, to know that I am living within the futures they envisioned… my goodness.
My latest for @PsychToday.
“I don’t want to burn down the church, but I don’t have a problem dismantling the aspects that are harming people,” Taylor told Christian Today.
“The reason that we built this site is because I love the church and I love what the church can and should be. But what it is currently does not mirror that at all.”

It is my duty to share the stories where queer Black boys are in them & their love interests are either other blk boys or non blk boys of color.
Happy pride.
