Amal Khalil was alive for hours. She phoned her family and the Lebanese military for help. People followed in horror as her colleagues updated the world on what was happening. And yet Israel blocked the Red Cross from reaching her for seven hours. That is stone cold murder.
"Khalil was trapped alive under rubble for hours, having made a phone call to her family and the Lebanese military for help, Qudah told CNN on Thursday.
'The Red Cross was blocked for seven hours and when they reached her after seven hours, she was already dead,” she said. 'This kind of obstruction of rescue efforts may really amount to war crime.'"

The Selzer story is not, necessarily, a Harris lead in Iowa
It is Harris leading by 20 points among women in a heavily white, Midwestern state.

We just digitized this 1920 map documenting violent actions by British forces between 1919-1920. It was likely posted publicly to raise awareness of British military and police activities.

Every year on #Halloween we like to carve a #pumpkin from our collection of Penguin 60s. 🎃🔪
We're up to our elbows in juicy plots and seedy characters, but luckily there's not much pulp fiction. 🎃📚
Our grad student assistant is a hero

In 1872, the Illustrated Police News published an account of “The Phantom Train,” a ghostly train carrying the body of assassinated President Lincoln that made a yearly trip on the New York Central Railroad. Want to read the entire tale? during #spookyseason? Visit us!
