Former FBI Director @Comey James Comey’s new thriller Red Verdict may be fiction — but one of the cases that inspired it was very real. In our new Spybrary interview, Comey explains how the FBI once used an undercover operative posing as a potential Russian recruit — complete with a tiny recorder hidden inside a notebook — to capture conversations with Russian intelligence officers. He also talks about: • why prosecuting espionage can be as difficult as uncovering it • how “graymail” was used to pressure the US government in classified cases • why he has little interest in writing rogue FBI agents • the real people and cases that feed into his fiction • and the spy writers he admires Read Bruce Dravis’s full interview with James Comey at Spybrary.com.
