We live in times where we are against time and impulse rules over us …’ -

"imperialism is not dead"
A significant interview with Julius Nyerere, worth watching for its historical and political insights.
Did the Mayor say he was ‘just putting local content’ when he was told he should not speak after uMongameli has spoken?
Hai bandla, we abuse this term.

Aluta continua contra tribalismo, contra imperialismo.

Two major events last week, one sector. Paris Motor Show and the SA Auto Week. In all, discussions on the future of policy were top of the agenda.
In eThekwini last week, we re-affirmed the role of the sector as a driver of foreign exchange, industrial complexity and linkages.

“The ANC is our shield, the @SACP1921 is our vanguard. Our shield cannot collapse because we have always known that no harm will come to the workers when we have our shield there, which is the @MYANC. This shield has collapsed, workers are exposed, workers are attacked,” Mike Shingange Mike Shingange
Everyone in favour of redress is pro-ANC? By this logic, the political settlement of 1994 is only supported by the ANC and everyone else is held captive to it, against their will?
Ever heard of a ‘fallacy of composition’ sage of West Campus?
Or? … eish nvm

Be vigilant comrades,
WATCH: The CEO of the SA First Forum, Xolani Zuma, says they have been telling the South African government that these people who are claiming to be refugees, some of them are terrorists and criminals.
He was responding after the chaos that was witnessed at the Durban CBD earlier today where a South African man was shot dead allegedly by foreign shop owners - KZN Tonight Podcast

On #METROFMTALK, we also spoke to Mametlwe Sebei, Legal Expert and Lecturer at UNISA who also works with Lawyers for Human Rights, to get a legal perspective on South Africa’s new asylum rules.
We unpacked what the Constitutional Court ruling means for asylum seekers, why access to the application process matters and the challenge of balancing legal protections with concerns about the capacity of the asylum system.
How does South Africa protect the right to seek asylum while ensuring the system is properly managed?

The ‘ward-based’ interpretation of ‘local content’, as a regionalised phenomenon to establish eligibility for economic ‘rents’ is on full display in this Sibanyoni testimony. It is an interpretation different to that afforded to the term in industrial policy.

Edibles sold in packaging that resembles sweets for kids. The blurred lines between alcohol (Sminorff) and soft drinks (Tropika, Krush). Harmful industries will keep pushing the limits. That's why we need a strong & decisive state!

'It cannot be over-emphasised that people are our most precious capital and, therefore, they must eat well, be housed and clothed well..the economy must be so structured as to provide adequate food, good housing and cheap but good clothing'- AM Babu, Letter to Robert Mugabe, 1980
Today marks the birth of Abdulmuraman Babu in 1924, a revered Zanzibari revolutionary . We pay tribute to his legacy. Through his tireless efforts to advance the African cause and combat oppression, we are reminded that revolution is a complex, multifaceted journey replete with obstacles and paradoxes.

And…there it is! Prof “Self-Mutilating” hitting the nail on the head, directly challenging the De Facto Presidency, and asking; “Are we a Treasury-led or a strategy-led (ie; politically-led) country?”
My take: we are, self-evidently, a Treasury-led country because the politicians, have handed over power to unelected bean counters on Madiba Street and their donors in financial services companies. Austerity is anti-democracy and anti-constitutional.
(If you don’t know, “austerity” is the de-funding of public services and assets.)
They are interested in corporate welfarism Tatana. They want tariffs, bailouts and NPAs, but hate the national minimum wage. Free marketeers who love a ‘particular’ kind of state intervention.
