This would change if I did it again tomorrow, but I did it quickly, no second guessing and these 9 came to mind. My9albums.com – at Garston, England

I’m just finishing up a solo album. In this age of AI-generated music, I think those of us who are able should aim to keep making flawed, human music for as long as we can. Years ago, using a MIDI drum kit to trigger samples, a Kemper to produce amp tones, or even a MIDI keyboard to trigger a piano would have been considered sacrilegious. These days, picking up an instrument and pointing a microphone at it makes you feel like Michelangelo on the scaffold. Anyway, the recording is done. I’ll have a rest, then mix and master what’s there before releasing it upon an unsuspecting world, which will undoubtedly stop squabbling just long enough to find shared joy in my artistic brilliance. Alternatively, my 20 monthly listeners on Spotify will have all the fun to themselves. – at Garston, England

PhD Graduation. Lovely day. Photo dump. No reels or stories. I'm old. Polaroids, Pritt stick and a scrapbook is more my style. – at Garston, England

Big Cloud Productions is returning. After pausing in 2022 to complete a PhD in audio research at LJMU, I’ll graduate on 21 July 2026. A new website, expanded production services and online audio courses are coming soon. Great to be back. — Steve

Really enjoyed the Skin Imps Show at Telford's on Friday. Sometimes I can't believe I still get paid to play music with my friends. Music is a life hack (Pics at afternoon soundcheck). X – at Garston, England

This Friday, 17th April, Telford's Warehouse. The Skin Imps return. We have been very busy, in distant lands fighting Skeletor and his forces of evil, but we return, triumphant to administer your treatment. Plenty to look forward to in the Skin Imps World. See you on Friday.

Liverpool ranked as the number 1 city to visit by the Telegraph for 2026. Photo by (Richard Storey ) 📸 1. Liverpool Visitor appeal: 9/10 The iconic Royal Liver Building provides panoramic views of our number 1 city Credit: Bardhok Ndoji/iStockphoto In certain lights – which can be a summer evening, a clear dawn, a wintry afternoon – the waterfront of Liverpool is magical. It’s partly the contrast with the shopping area, which is often hectic, but it’s also the sheer, irrefutable glory of the Three Graces and the handsome red dock architecture combined with sea breezes and a big sky. Liverpool has had major ups and downs, swinging from the “managed decline” imposed on it by Geoffrey Howe after the Toxteth riots to the pomp and pageantry of 2007-8 when the city was the UK’s last ever European Capital of Culture (hosting, among other things, the glamorous MTV Europe awards) and celebrated its 800th birthday. The Walker, Open Eye Gallery and Museum of Liverpool are always hosting exciting shows; the Tate, being refurbished till 2027, and the International Slavery and Maritime museums, closed till 2027, are sorely missed by Albert Dock visitors. The Liverpool ONE al-fresco mall-type development is not to everyone’s taste, but the big-name chains attract good numbers of shoppers. Boasting stellar Victorian heritage architecture and the UK’s two finest modern-era cathedrals, a still buzzing pub scene, improving gastronomy and a small but strong arts scene, Liverpool is a one-off. Its people are storytellers and, more importantly, stars in their own private novels. Via (Life in Liverpool)

Jai found this today. We (Me, Jai and Colin) started our first band together in 1996, around 30 years ago. We were called Pennyface back then. We later became The Hidden Persuders (with Thor Brown), then we were Templeton Peck, then The Skin Imps were born. – at Garston, England

In surreal news, that my muso friends from the ’90s would quite reasonably refuse to believe, I’ve just passed my PhD viva. Huge thanks to Dr Karl O. Jones for his help as a PhD supervisor, and to Sarah Jeory, Harvey and all my family and friends for putting up with four years of me whingeing about it. A few corrections to go, then it’s bloody done. Off for a posh tea and a pint X – at Garston, England
