Finished Sai over the week and it is genuinely one of the most evil/sinister feeling shows I've seen in a while. It's on netflix if ya haven't heard of it but theres a monologue in the finale that had me on the edge of my seat. We need more Feel Bad Forever shows like this.

Lanterns is a story about a man coming to see that fear isn't failure, and any attempt to excise it diminishes him, submits him to others' wills, and prevents him from self-actualizing. It's not a story about how a guy gets a magic ring that lets him shoot lasers at bad guys.

Thinking about episode 2 of lanterns where they set up that John is some kind of Green Lantern prodigy because he can keep a construct going without a ring, and then he only makes a single other construct for the entire show lol

So many plotlines get set up to be either dropped entirely or wrapped up as clean as possible. I dont think the people selling it as "Lanterns mixed with True Detective" ever actually watched True Detective

Before lanterns came out everyone was making fun of the trailers for seemingly not having any actual Green Lantern shit in it and now people are defending the finale by saying it's actually a good thing that he didn't put the suit on or make any constructs lol

to be clear I think the finale was really bad for reasons that have nothing to do with having him do green lantern stuff, but its interesting how quickly this seems to have turned around.
