They said it was too early, too risky, too uncertain. So we built anyway. The Bitcoin House was built to give Sri Lankans real Bitcoin knowledge, safe access, and a physical place to learn, question, touch the tech, and build community. Built by us for us. YOU CAN JUST DO THINGS
Love it when people are getting addicted to buying Bitcoin. We need people who think long term like this.

Sri Lanka’s civil war left us with different stories of the same country. Today, some of us are building Bitcoin access together with @bitnomiofficial .
I’ll be sharing a little of that story at @thebitmela in Jaipur on 30 October.

Well this was 100000% unrehearsed. I promise. You heard her. Bitcoin IS money. This is the next generation.
Sri Lanka is ready to take back money? .. Maybe
“Some sly, roundabout way…”
A rooftop full of people eating hoppers and enjoying live music at The Bitcoin House. Nothing special, I guess.
Not long ago, plenty of people would have thought Sri Lanka was too conservative for something like this. Instead, we’re finding the opposite.
People here are curious, open minded and willing to explore ideas for themselves.
Some ideas find their way in without asking for permission.

Bitcoin is winning. – at Sri Lanka
Look at what Bitcoin ate in the last six months and tell me it isn’t the most resilient thing humans have ever built.
A war. February 28, US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz, choking 20% of the world’s oil. Brent to $105. Insurance pulled, tankers stranded, fuel rationing across Asia. Five months of it.
A 54% crash. $125K down to $57,717. Every obituary rewritten again.
Eight straight weeks of ETF outflows. The permanent institutional bid wasn’t permanent after all.
A hardware wallet catastrophe. The Coldcard entropy flaw, a build flag set wrong in 2021, silently cutting seeds from 128 bits to ~40, sitting undetected for five years. 1,596 BTC confirmed swept, possibly over 2,000. ~$130M gone. And these were the people who did everything right: bought the dedicated device, followed every instruction, got robbed by a bug they had no way to see. Devastating for them. And Bitcoin? Didn’t blink. That was a vendor’s code, not the money.
A developer imprisoned for building software that refuses to snitch. Five years.
Macro whiplash. Jobs at NEGATIVE 23,000 against +80,000 expected. CPI, FOMC, recession chatter, the whole circus.
Quantum FUD. Capture FUD. On schedule, every cycle. Still 21 million.
And then a civil war. Nine months of it. A forced deadline. Bitcoiners calling each other frauds. An actual chain split yesterday.
And where is it right now? ~$65,200.
Hashrate near 940 EH/s, the largest concentration of energy ever pointed at a single ledger. Fees at 1 sat/vB. Anyone on Earth can move any amount for pocket change.
Here’s the part nobody says out loud: through the war, the crash, the theft, the fork, the screaming, the ledger never stopped. Not for one block. 10 minutes. 10 minutes. 10 minutes.
Nations went to war. A company shipped a broken build. A court caged a coder. Markets puked. We turned on each other.
Bitcoin absorbed all of it and kept printing blocks, because it doesn’t need any of us to be right, honest, or united.
Bombs didn’t do it. Courts didn’t do it. Markets didn’t do it. Code didn’t do it. And this week we found out we can’t even do it from the inside.
Nothing else on Earth works like this.
Still 21 million. Still ten minutes. Still stacking. ⚡️
Cold card died, Boltz down, BTCPAY down... Next up LNbits.
If any one is dumb enough to custody other people's funds in a self hosted LNbits server... Best of luck. Release the funds..

The Coldcard hack reinforces this:
What the Bitcoin movement needs is independent educators providing impartial education
not paid influencers.
If you still believe Bitcoin is the future of money then you MUST support grassroots Bitcoin education!

🇱🇰 Your Savings Earn Interest, But Bank Fees Eat It All
⭕ Savings accounts in Sri Lanka are reaching a point where many customers may effectively earn a negative return.
⭕ You deposit your money with the bank, The bank uses those funds to generate income, but the charges imposed on your account exceeds the interest you receive..
⭕ Customers may have to pay more than Rs. 1,000 annually for digital banking apps, Rs. 25 to Rs. 50 for transfers, debit card fees, account maintenance charges and other service fees.
⭕ On top of this, 10% withholding tax is deducted from the interest earned on deposits. (Goes to gov)
⭕ For customers with balances below Rs. 100,000, particularly those living from paycheque to paycheque, these charges can wipe out most or even all of the interest earned at the dismal rate of just 2% to 3%.
⭕ This is before even considering inflation, which further reduces the real value of both your savings and the interest you receive.
⭕ Sampath Bank the major culprit of the above practice recently increased the annual Sampath Vishwa fee from Rs. 900 to Rs. 1,200, an increase of more than 33%.
⭕ Many fee increases are introduced automatically, without specific approval from customers or a meaningful option to reject them while continuing to use essential banking services.
⭕ Digital banking reduces the bank’s dependence on branches, counters, paperwork and staff time. Customers are effectively performing much of the banking work themselves.
⭕ Charging customers more for using a lower-cost banking channel is difficult to justify, especially when banks already earn from deposits, loans, cards and transaction fees.
⭕ This practice also works against Sri Lanka’s efforts to promote digital payments, financial inclusion and reduced dependence on cash.
⭕ A banking app should be a basic account-access service, not a premium subscription. Banks increasingly appear to be treating digital banking apps as another source of revenue.
⭕ The Government and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka should intervene, improve transparency, require proper notice before fee increases and regulate excessive charges on basic banking services.
Your savings earn interest, but after taxes, inflation and bank charges, there may be little or nothing left for you.

Sri Lankan's are talking about hard money concepts. Austrian economics creeping up. 😏😏
"Sly round about way" ..
