Nikola Veselinov, a 17-year-old Bulgarian mathematics prodigy from Sofia, developed a groundbreaking new theorem. He proved that certain meromorphic equations f(x)=af(x) = af(x) = a cannot be solved using elementary functions when the function has infinitely many critical values. Combining topology, symmetry, and Galois theory, his work generalizes classic unsolvability results. At Regeneron ISEF 2026, the 17-year-old won the $75,000 Young Scientist Award and first place in Mathematics. This historic achievement for Bulgaria highlights his exceptional contributions to pure mathematics as a high school student.

I have come to believe that beauty is embodied care quartey.com/writing/why-beau… That wherever attention accretes and care pools, regardless of how fine or modest the canvas, the focus of that concentrated loving intent cannot help but produce the quality of beauty.

Progress is improvement in the diversity, complexity, and harmony of all forms of life. To use the word progress in connection with economic activity is a form of brain damage.

Noise is a remarkably insidious form of pollution: a 10db noise increase (from dishwasher to vacuum) drops productivity by 5%. But the kicker is you don't notice: noise hurts your ability to think, not your effort. You work as hard but do worse! And poorer areas have more noise.

It’s 11 PM on a Friday and this is what you should be watching. I was glued to the screen. What an elevated, accessible format and spirited dialogue and conversation. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this public information effort. And to @dhh for the plain speak.

It was an honor and a privilege to appear before the House Antitrust Subcommittee this morning to share our experience from Basecamp on what it’s like to be a small tech company living in big tech’s world. We urgently need strong antitrust action! m.signalvnoise.com/testimony…
