This is good work.
Reflecting on the Tenure and Legacy of Dave Doeren
Dave Doeren was hired in 2012 to do a job that just doesn't exist in 2026. I wrote about the work he did, the way the game changed, a polarizing tenure, and a legacy that should not be.

“Where’s Boo?”
I’ve been asking that since 2019

8 wins with this year’s schedule isn’t good enough. I’ll take 9 wins, and that’s only because our “10th win” was removed due to one of the Top 5 brain farts in the history of college football.
And if we lose tomorrow? That’s a wrap.
One thing I’ll always appreciate about the Amato Era is that it was uncommon for us to get our a** kicked.
Number of losses by 11 or more points (i.e., more than 2 possessions):
Amato = 8
Seasons = 6
Losses/Season = 1.3
Doeren = 44
Seasons = 14.5
Losses/Season = 3.0

We now have a 24-team CFB Playoff coming next season, pending approval.
If the 24-team format would've existed since the CFP started in 2014, a staggering 80 TEAMS would've made an appearance to this point.
He’s not wrong.
24-team @CFBPlayoff reax:
--It enhances conference races. Sure, a team can clinch in mid-November but the days of Michigan-Ohio State being for the Big 10 title were damn exciting. That last happened 20 years ago. Those days return.
--A 24-team field lessens the influence of the selection committee. Boiling it down to simplest element -- if you're ranked, you're in. (With exceptions, of course) The committee is essentially left to seed.
--More on-campus playoff games. Yes, please.
--There will be 50 teams (at least) in competition for the CFP each Nov. 1. That will drive interest, ratings and attendance.
--The regular-season won't be impacted negatively. We've been hearing that refrain since the BCS. Texas-Oklahoma, Michigan-Ohio State, Auburn-Alabama, are still/will still be huge. So will Alabama-Georgia, BYU-Utah, Alabama-Tennessee, Notre Dame-Miami. Think of the interest at Duke, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Minnesota right now if a 24-team field existed.
--To that point, the requirement for each of the P4 to play 10 P4 games will mean MORE of those types of games. The system now can support 9-3, even 8-4 teams. That's the reason SEC coaches reluctantly added a ninth conference game. This is their vision to (further) dominate the bracket realized.
--The SEC and Big Ten will probably continue to get 75% of the field in some years (18 total). That's sort of the case now.
--I think we all agree there are too many bowls. Bowl season will survive. A 24-team playoff will no doubt cull the herd. But what would you rather see, the Pop Tarts Bowl or the same matchup in a first-round game in the CFP with a national title at stake?
--What's wrong with the odds doubling of say, Western Kentucky, hanging a "College Football Playoff first-round" banner in its practice facility? That's a good thing.

Assuming this is accurate, NC State will have never (and will never) played in the ACC CG.
But SMU (who just joined the ACC) and Notre Dame (who is not an ACC football team) have.

There’s no need for MLB expansion.
Just move to Raleigh. We’ll fill it up.
This is no way to sugarcoat this..
This is an absolute embarrassing showing by the residents of St Pete/Tampa tonight.
Your team is a group of overachievers and you have thousands of empty seats.
Absolutely pathetic!
