today is the third anniversary of seals not going to do anything crazy this year which is a bit of a relief from scrambling trying to figure out what to drop or announce, but have had a lot of time to really think about what seals needs and wanted to make a more forward-looking post while still being retrospective. we're experiencing a lot of growth of the brand through traditional channels, people around the world are slowly falling in love with sappy. things are chugging along well, brand growing, socials growing, dev coming along nicely, which i think most people would be happy with. in my eyes that's not enough though and it bothers me quite a bit. complacency is nothing i'd ever settle for. long term plans are par for the course, we're working on growing the total pie (and getting up that shockingly low "active nft trader" count) through gaming ventures to slowly introduce people to trading digital assets and making them fall in love with the magic in a similar way to how we all did in '20/21. that's one of our long-tail approaches to ecosystem "onboarding". but what i'm wanting to focus on is improving the "now" and the terminally online element to our community. attracting people to the network through word-of-mouth (which in my opinion, is the most effective form of onboarding possible into these networks) and memes that average people enjoy and want to participate in. my highest priority right now is to breathe fresh life into seals and in general, nfts as a whole. the nft network in general is stale and lacking entertainment, there isn't much of this social accelerant around anymore. nfts were supposed to provide that and be at the frontier of art and memetics. the irony is that after 3 years and a lot of thinking my conclusion is to go full circle and return back to our roots. i've been looking back through the lore archives and to be honest i don't think i've ever had as much fun with nfts as i did in the first few weeks/months of seals. none of that was related to price either since it took a good few months below mint before we really saw price appreciation — it was more about the memetic production of the community. we literally treated seals like a memecoin. the quality of the videos/memes and the speed at which they were made was absurd, even looking at memecoin communities now it was actually unlike anything i've seen to this day. i would say that's probably the main reason why after all these years the community has had an extremely high retention relative to most other communities, that memetic excellence and the entertainment that came with it. being objective, i would say some of that has faded through mostly fault of my own for many many reasons that i could write a whole post about but is irrelevant for now. the tl;dr is just that there was a lot of noise from startup "advisors" alongside some posting-anxiety (i.e. "it's not professional for a ceo/founder to be posting like that"). so i'm going to work on fixing that and just making things more fun again. there is no full 0-100 public strategy or plan, we're just going to do what incrementally feels right in the moment and just improve, taking inspiration from previous mimetic works within the community while still contributing to the current zeitgeist, and lead by example. there's some other things in the works in order to breathe some fresh life into the community and continue growth; after meeting @yummy_theartist and @mayanmango in vegas last month they pushed quite heavily for a revisiting of the art refresh concept. people in the community seem to love their art and trait designs so we're going to lock in and see where it goes. from what they've shown me the clean up and adjustments they've made have been pretty on point, so we'll see if something fruitful comes from it. as always, i'm all for community suggestions/contributions to things that matter to people. i've always had some other ideas that come with pretty big risks - now might be the time to take some of those risks, we'll see. either way, all of this is going to be an uphill battle since memecoin tribalism, crypto nihilism, anti-NFT sentiment from CT and the world in general is at ATH but i'm very certain this direction is the correct one. happy 3rd sappyversary

As announced a couple of weeks ago The Plague is coming to Cardano to test the possibility of the "digital state" and a successful on-chain governance. A.K.A. -- "The Frog Republic" On our last space there were some questions asked that we were not ready to answer. We have some of those answers now. ✅What is the structure of the government? Ultimately, this will be determined by the community. But my draft structure can be found in the link in next post in this thread. ✅What is the mint quantity? 9,975 - Where did we come up with that number? My draft governance structure has 75 Representatives. Therefore 1 Representative will represent 133 NFT's. ✅ What is the mint price? $55 - $75 each Why that price range? 1.) We want it to be accessible. 2.) We want to set up the entity with a decent pool of funds. And it looks like the ADA price will be fairly low. So, hopefully by the time they are ready to deploy the funds, it the treasury will have multiplied in value. ✅ How will this benefit the Plague? The Plague will get 10% of the mint funds (approximately $53,635 - $74,812 in ADA) Why? Myself and The Plague will be facilitating this experiment and will have expenses related to it. This offsets those expenses and also reimburses the Frogs for my time. I will make $0 on this experiment. ✅ Royalties? It will start with royalties. The royalties will go to the DAO treasury. The DAO can decide where they go and how they are spent. The DAO can decide whether or not to keep them. Royalty rate will be decided as we get closer to mint. ✅ Wen mint? TBA - But it will take place in May. ✅But DAO's don't work. True. DAO's as they have been established in the past 🛑Two more posts in this thread. Next one has link to my draft of the structure. This of course can be changed by the community. It is just my recommendation based on my study of the history of government (I am not an expert). The final post is a link to an upcoming space where we will discuss further. NEITHER link would ask you to connect your wallet. So BE CAREFUL to click the correct link.

Talked to @mhluongo about Bitcoin, building, and a little bit about parenting. TL;DR: - Everyone who’s building on Bitcoin will be called a scammer. - The best way to get cryptopilled is to get deplatformed. - and teach your kids about compounding interest for f$ck’s sake.

I told the wifey about some opportunities brewing in crypto. She asked how much more poor we are going to be afterwards. She knows me well.

gm Been thinking about this a lot over the last few weeks. NFT founders better start facing up to some tough realities: 1⃣ Memecoins have siphoned off most of the speculative liquidity that used to be played with in NFTs. Not all. But most. In 2021 "Choose Rich" would have been an NFT project in 18 hours. This time it was a memecoin. That is a big change. 2⃣ NFTs lost the narrative of being an asset used to accumulate ETH or SOL. Now they are seen as more likely to dissipate the ETH or SOL in your portfolio . 3⃣ In 2021 and the bullish periods of 2022, almost all the NFT trading was done on ETH. Now the liquidity is spread across SOL, Ordinals, ETH, SEI, etc. 4⃣ The market has seen all of the hype cycle founders leave a bunch of bag holders with nothing. Therefore the market is much more skeptical and thus less likely to buy your NFT. So what should an NFT founder do? ✅Deliver a product of substance that people will want to be a part of. ✅Create opportunity for your holders. ✅Set realistic expectations. Moonbirds was never worth 40ETH. I pick on them because it is easy and obvious. But that statement is true for almost every NFT project that was labeled a "blue chip". I believe when the dust settles from this bull market, there will be fewer, NOT MORE, NFT projects left that are thriving. Frogs will be one of them.

The new episode of the show is out! Angelo Alessio @angelo_a_jr is one of the founders of @buildcities, a global cooperative of startup cities. We talk about the state of the Network State. Balaji Srinivasan @balajis popularized the concept by publishing a book, “The Network State,” a manifesto of a movement that aims to rethink what a country is in the new digital era of humanity. It’s an ambitious idea that a community can grow from an online group into a proper state with its own territory, currency, institutions, and diplomatic recognition. The idea might seem futuristic, science-fictiony, maybe far-fetched even at first glance but if you think about new countries form relatively often for a variety of reasons. And in the current state of the world where, frankly, it's hard not to feel that everything is falling apart - an idea of a new form of state is not that radical. So, you may be thinking, this is a podcast about doing business in web3. Why are we talking about creating countries all of a sudden? The podcast is about opportunities and tools that crypto creates for business. As you will learn from my conversation with Angelo - there are projects experimenting with elements of Network State, and a lot of this experimentation has to do with seeking opportunities to create the most beneficial environments for innovation and coordination of capital and labor.
